Stay in our mossy forest wonderland! We have over 100 acres, most of which is wooded and about 10 acres is a working organic farm. We have a wide range of heirloom vegetables, 75+ fruit trees, nearly an acre of heirloom (95 years old!) blueberry bushes, grapes, kiwi, strawberries, and much more.  The forest itself is lovely-something out of a fairy tale with lush moss, ferns, with large evergreen and deciduous trees.

Our land is nestled at the foothills of the North Cascades, with Finney Creek running through the land and emptying into the Skagit River a half mile away. You may swim in the creek or in the river, explore our land or a great hike to a waterfall just a few miles down the road. This is an excellent location as a home base for hiking, boating, hot springs, and even day trips over the pass into Winthrop. We are located just under 2 hours from Seattle and 90 minutes from Vancouver BC.

Our sites are mostly walk in, usually 4 sites on the creek trail and 5 on the forest trail  Although it is a short walk to the sites, we do have a wagon and wheelbarrow which may be used to transport your belongings. Please note that we only have one drive up site in 2020 season and if this is a requirement for you it would be a good idea to contact us in advance to make sure it is available.

We have a 4 person per site limit, as  our sites are mostly in wooded areas with clearings suitable for a 2-4 person tent (a four person tent is usually about 9x7).  If you have a large tent, just message us to confirm that we can place you in a spot which will accommodate your needs.

Because most of the sites are nestled in the forest under some really outstanding trees, we have only a few sites which allow campfires.    If you would like a fire pit, those sites are located on the forest trail, which is a short walk from the creek.

For sites without campfires, you're always welcome to build a campfire on the beach at the creek.  We do typically have a county wide burn ban in place at some later point in the season, please feel free to check this before booking.

To choose your site:  Unfortunately we don't have the option of listing each site with photos and description together. Please take a look at the photos to get a sense of what sites look like before you choose.  Here are the descriptions:

Creek trail (no fire options at these sites): Site 1, good for a couple, smallish site nestled under a lovely cedar tree with a spot for a tent up to about 8x8; Site 2, large cedar is at center of site, smallish site good for a couple with tent up to about 8x8, Sites 3 and 4 are close together and closest to the creek-better for two couples who want to camp together as there are a few nice spots tucked amongst the cedars to put an 8x8 tent but the two sites are somewhat adjoining so they do not have the level of privacy we prefer to offer.  We suggest not booking one of these sites if you are booking just for just one site to avoid camping too near to another camper.

Forest trail sites (fire options at all but site 5): Site 5 is a bit larger and is really our only drive up site as you can park across from it, about 18x20 and surrounded by cedars and ferns. Site 6 is about 15x18, Site 7 is slightly larger and irregularly shaped and about 18x20, Site 8 is long and more narrow and about 12x18 or so, Site 9 is larger, more like 20x20.  Please remember that this area includes space for a firepit, so this is not the area just for a tent. In general, these sites should fit about a 6 person tent and give room for some chairs and the firepit.  Not sure your tent will fit? Contact us before booking!

Camping with children? If you are traveling with one or two children age 6 and under, you do not need to pay an extra person fee.

2020 SEASON UPDATE DUE TO COVID-19:  In order to create a safer experience for both campers and our residents, we have had to make a few changes. We are only open for a long weekend and are closed during the week to allow us to better clean as needed.  This  also means that your site will have been empty for the 5 days leading up to your stay.  We are closing the group camp options for the season and cancelling all of our larger events.  We are booking sites only on the forest trail or creek trail, and parking for both of these areas will be somewhat closer to those trailheads (we are using our normal group campsite in the meadow for parking this year).  Although we believe that one of the neat things about our farm is that guests can request a tour, or feel at home making use of the commons areas such as the meadow to play a ball game, or the communal campfire ring in front of the barn, we are closing these areas to campers for the season and we ask that campers stick to the creek trail, forest trail, or spend time at the creek rather than on the working areas of our farm. We also need to close our camping kiosk, which is usually stocked with items to borrow such as charcoal grills, guidebooks, board games, and much more. Another change is that we will be relying on "pack it in pack it out" and not able to collect recycling etc.  We have an outhouse for the creek trail and the forest trail, and will utilize a small handwashing station, and stock them with spray bottle of disinfectant/paper towels so that folks can feel free to sanitize as they prefer.  We will thoroughly clean at the end of each weekend.  We are moving our water filling station to the parking area, and although the water is potable at the source, the filling station utilizes a garden hose and for this reason it should be used only for wash water.  Many campers may prefer to simply bring their own water with to camp.  We are also setting up a contactless entry-you will have the opportunity to choose your site during booking and will receive check in instructions and a cell number to use with any questions.  We very much look forward to returning to our usual welcoming set up with more shared resources and facilities next year, but in the meantime we are very glad to do our part to help keep folks safe!

PS-we are a nonprofit and use the funds from Hipcamp to help support our seed distro project: on this land we grow, package and then distribute approx 10,000 packages of organic heirloom seed each year, always for free, to schools, food banks, community gardens, low income households, and anyone who needs it.  All of our residents are volunteers, no one is paid for their work with Hipcamp, and we use the income to pay for the supplies for growing and distributing free seeds. Thank you for your stay and for your support of this worthy project!

Finney Farm is an intentional community founded many years ago on the principles of "Earth First". Their mission is to educate about and celebrate all that surrounds us in the natural world. Their movement of "Food Not Lawns" is part of what inspired me to begin gardening, myself. Situated along the pristine Finney Creek, the forest is lush, offering a multitude of tent site options. I pulled my gear in (on a cart Jennie kindly provided me) about 100 yards to nestle next to a moss-covered cedar. Situated under a canopy of trees, the shade remains fairly constant with dappled light gracing the underbrush as the sun makes its move across the sky. An outhouse and hand washing station are a short walk away as well as a tent-covered cove of games and stoves to check-out, for free, and an honor system store of garden items available for sale. Chickens roam through protected sections of land where sunflowers stretch their smiley heads to the sky. This feels like sacred land, protected and loved, PERFECT for camping, taking a dip into the creek, and waking up early to appreciate the world alive outside of the tent. As a destination or stopover to or from the North Cascades, this is an ideal camping experience.

The tall, beautiful cedars provided a a stunning canopy. There are several spots along the creek deep enough for a refreshing dip.The tent site options are plentiful and BEAUTIFUL.Enjoy the honor system items available for sale.

Beautiful working farm with a variety of spaces in the moss forest and in clearings toward the farm, which are less shaded and private. We stayed in a forest area that was easy to drive up to and kept us cool during the hot days (as did the sprawling creek which was a short walk away). We kept remarking that the forest was something out of a fairy tale. I would suggest bringing a camping table as picnic tables are not supplied.

Thanks for the review! Great campers, would welcome them back anytime! We are looking into getting some camping folding tables, different from the card tables we have available for loan. Thanks for the suggestion!

The hosts and space were lovely! We planned a last minute, one night stay. The hosts had a stand with extra supplies (tables, chairs, stove, hula hoops, games, lanterns and more!) They even had organic seeds from their farm as a gift to take home, so sweet! The land itself is a shared community with farm, chickens, a dog and cat. Camping there was private even in the middle of everything, and when we had interactions they were always warm and welcoming. There were many things to do on the property and nearby. Beautiful land and people. Thank you Finney Farm! ❤

Was looking for an easy escape from the city and this place had everything I was looking for. Easy drive from Seattle. Check. Quiet and private feeling grounds. Check. Shade/tree covered camping spot. Check. Easy access to a swimming hole. Check. It was quite nice to have our forest camping spot with access to a large open field for star gazing. Didn't use many of the amenities but nice to know they were there. Would definitely recommend staying.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Finney Creek Farm. Between lazing by the river, searching for secret swimming holes up the creek, the lush and private camping (walk-in camp at the creek trail! highly recommend!), and the warm and welcoming hosts. We truly couldn't have enjoyed it more. We felt like we tricked everyone with such gorgeous and private camping on what would have been a packed Labor Day Weekend anywhere else.
Pro tip: Bring a camping table, candles or fairy lights, and bug spray!

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and we had a wonderful little spot nestled in the trees near the forest trail. We had a great time getting to know some of the animals, too! Finney Farm is an absolutely beautiful piece of land, and we felt so lucky to be able to explore it. Thank you!
