The area has gently rolling hills filled with wildflowers during the earlier part of the Summer. Dragons Gate Gardens and Wilds has a hundred and twenty acres to explore. The Skookumchuck River is a little over a mile away where you can enjoy a waterfall and walk along the river with low bank where one can get into the water. Doing so is a great favorite of our guests.
We are wild and woolly. We provide a place to experience nature as it simply is. We privilege pollinators above human aesthetics. Wildflowers abound, including various dandelions which many are edible and healing plants. We encourage converting from lawns to meadow lands being supportive of wild birds and insects. If you like it wild we are the place for you. This is not a resort or English style garden. Tall grass, wild flowers and trees fill the land around you to give you a feeling of full immersion in Nature.
Please note that check-in is from 2 pm until 8 pm. All members of the party must check-in at the front gate. Parties arriving late will be charged a late fee of $25. for the first hour and an additional $50. for being over an hour late. We do not site campers after dark. (Our State Parks close their gates at dusk.) We also ask our campers to observe quiet time after 9 pm. It is important to be respectful of all, that includes the other campers.
When requesting to book please include whether you are bringing a trailer or RV and its length, how many cars, how many people, and how many dogs, so that I can better site you and your party.
So as not to disappoint the expectations of our bookings, the water features which had been previously offered are not available to our campers due to the Covid 19 scare. These include the pool, hot tub and the showers. They are closed to our guests until further notice due to the current state of affairs. We are doing our best to be in compliance with our current County mandates.
CLARIFICATION OF WHICH FEATURES ARE INCLUDED IN CAMPING FEES AND WHICH WERE ADDITIONAL EXTRAS:
In response to some guests complaints about the fees thinking they should be different because the water features are not being offered, when the pool and hot tub are available there are extra fees involved. They have never been included in the camping fees. The camping fees have been the same for the entire time I have been on Hipcamp which is three years now. If you feel for any reason that my fees are not in your budget we can recommend other sites.
Please let me know you've read this far by telling me how many smokers are in your group when you send your booking request.

This was a very lovely camping space. The trees and flowers in the meadow created the perfect backdrop for a magical experience. Kathleen is super friendly and helpful. She welcomed us with open arms and is a wealth of knowledge.
Very nice stay here, when we went it was very private. Lots of a la carte amenities. Nice fire pit, comfy grass. Site is a little drive from the entrance area.

Thank you so much, Stephen, for a great review! All of us at Dragons' Gate Gardens are very happy that you had a very peaceful and enjoyable time here!
Very beautiful and secluded. So so nice to take a hot shower! Shower and main house (where the water is!) are not walkable from the campsite. Bathroom was not in great shape. You’d be happier w a 4 wheel drive to access the campsite. Otherwise it was great!

Hi, Abby, I'm sorry your visit was not as stellar as you expected. Moon Meadow is our lower-priced camping area and it is stated to be open camping in a treed meadow. One does not need a 4 wheel drive to access it. I have driven to it with my Prius which has a low carriage. Natural meadows and area are not flat like a city street or parking lot. Perhaps our more expensive sites would be more to your liking as they have a service road that leads right to each designated site. Many of our guests like to stretch their legs on the short walk to the front of the property which is less than a half-mile from Moon Meadow. There is a water spigot right next to Moon Meadow. As to the outhouse, it can get pretty ripe if our guests do not use the cedar shavings which I provide to cover their poop and the smell thereof.
Our stay was fantastic! Our dog Viggo had a blast as he was able to explore unleashed. The area is beautiful and peaceful.

Stephanie and her group were lovely. I would be happy to host them again.
Peaceful meadow surrounded by tall trees. Pleasant, attentive hostess. True boondocking without hookups and primative style outhouses. Tons of space for big rigs or tenting, or anything in between.

Amy and her family were lovely guests. I would be happy to host them anytime.
We had a wonderful time at Moon Meadows at Dragons' Gate. Kathleen and Moz are such friendly and warm hosts, along with their unbelievably friendly dogs. The fields of daisies were endless and breathtaking to behold and explore.
We stayed at Site 1, at Kathleen's suggestion, as it was the easiest for our camper. There was a large firepit there, and Kathleen delivered firewood right to us. Our kids pretty much ran wild and free, which was just perfect. There was an outhouse and water spigot nearby, but we didn't use them, as we used our camper toilet and water.
This was a perfect spot to relax, unplug, unwind, stargaze, and connect with each other. We can't wait to come back!
