Pitch your tent in the privacy of this quiet wilderness where the elk and the coyote play. This is a wildlife Sanctuary where we do not allow hunting. The wild animals here are so used to our presence that they often go about their daily life with little concern for us. We are treated to deer and elk wandering through the camping area. Get up quietly and you never know who you might see in camp. Each camp site has its own stone circle firepit, with the exception of Site #5 and #6 which have a steel firepit.
The camp is a mile from the front residential area. The back one hundred acres are surrounded by forested lands with miles of trails to explore where it is rare to meet another person.
We are wild and woolly. We provide a place to experience nature as it simply is. We privilege pollinators above human aesthetics. Wildflowers abound, including various dandelions which many are edible and healing plants. We encourage converting from lawns to meadow lands being supportive of wild birds and insects. If you like it wild we are the place for you. This is not a resort or English style garden. Tall grass, wild flowers and trees fill the land around you to give you a feeling of full immersion in Nature.
The area has gently rolling hills filled with wildflowers during the earlier part of the Summer. Dragons Gate Gardens and Wilds has a hundred and twenty acres to explore. The Skookumchuck River is a little over a mile away where you can enjoy a waterfall and walk along the river with low bank where one can get into the water. Doing so is a great favorite of our guests.
There is a giant crystal housed in a gazebo that overlooks the surrounding fields and woods. Time to meditate with the giant crystal in the gazebo can be booked for the small fee of $50. for an hour.
Please note that check-in is from 2 pm until 8 pm. All members of the party must check-in at the front gate. All members of the party must check-in at the front gate. It is required to check-in before going to your site. Parties arriving late will be charged a late fee of $25. for the first hour and an additional $50. for being over an hour late. We do not site campers after dark. (Our State Parks close their gates at dusk.) We also ask our campers to observe quiet time after 9 pm. It is important to be respectful of all, that includes the other campers.
When requesting to book please include whether you are bringing a trailer or RV and its length, how many cars, how many people, and how many dogs, so that I can better site you and your party.
We can now offer the Hot tub and pool to our guests. There are a limited number of sessions available. Please inquire if interested.
CLARIFICATION OF WHICH FEATURES ARE INCLUDED IN CAMPING FEES AND WHICH WERE ADDITIONAL EXTRAS:
In response to some guests complaints about the fees thinking they should be different because the water features are not being offered, when the pool and hot tub are available there are extra fees involved. They have never been included in the camping fees. The camping fees have been the same for the entire time I have been on Hipcamp which is three years now. If you feel for any reason that my fees are not in your budget we can recommend other sites.
Please let me know you've read this far by telling me how many smokers are in your group when you send your booking request.

Had a wonderful stay out at Giant Crystal Camp. The property near the crystal structure has 4 different areas, each with their own picnic table, to pull your RV (in my case a Vanagon) up to, or to pitch your tent. The hosts came down once the sun set and got a great fire going over at the communal fire ring - complete with the makings for smores! I was treated a beautiful clear night with a great view of the stars and milky way. In the morning I wandered along the large fields and spent a bit of time up in a tree stand watching for wildlife while enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Back up at the house there are some outdoor showers with instant hot water, should you need a rinse during your stay. Thank you both for the great stay and pleasant company!
Campsite wasn't what I expected. A couple of items that were supposed to be included were not ready for the season (hot tub/pool). The website mentioned firewood was included so I didn't bring any. I felt like the host didn't believe me before I finally convinced her otherwise. I also felt like I was being babysat by the host.
Arielle and Moaz we're amazing hosts. They set me up with a site for myself, two kids, and my dog that was right by the fire ring. They joined us for a campfire and amazing conversation. I'd come back here with no hesitation!
Things we loved:
- Kind, friendly hosts who seemed eager to please.
- Pretty surroundings.
- Clean fresh water that the hosts brought to our campsite.
- The pathways around the camp (to the shared campfire ring, to the toilet) were lit at night by solar lights, which was helpful in the dark.
- Warm outdoor showers were available. Just be aware you have to go to the main house and be escorted to the shower by the host. It's a fairly open shower area; might be a little uncomfortable for guests wanting more privacy -- but we didn't mind showering with the chickens :)
Things we struggled with:
- The pit toilet was on the less-than-nice side. Hosts did mention they were planning to clean it soon.
- Lots of mosquitoes in the evening (which is to be expected) but make sure you bring bug spray!
- Low signal / internet connectivity (again, this is to be expected in remote areas -- just flagging for future guests.) We use Verizon for internet and Google Fi for phone service.
Overall we enjoyed our stay!
The perfect weekend! Our hosts were kind and welcoming, the site was perfectly clean and the area was beautiful.
Kathleen was quick in responding to messages and helped us choose the correct site.
We were able to fit three cars, a large canopy, large tent and extra table and only ended up taking up half the site.
Outhouse was nearby and clean.
A short walk got us to WiFi and clean water.
A shallow river was a quick drive down the road and was a great day trip.
Thank you again!
We loved Dragons' Gate! We were at site 5 and found it spacious and private-- perfect for a safe, socially distanced camping trip with friends. We had 3 cars and 3 tents and there was ample space for all. We also enjoyed the proximity to the river nearby (a short 5-minute drive), and spent a day hanging out in the water.
Things to note: the bathroom situation is pretty basic/barebones (privacy provided by rigged up sheets) and there is no cell reception on site (which was perfect for us, but worth knowing).
I look forward to returning soon!
Nature at its Best ! If you're looking for a nice, quiet, private location to enjoy peaceful scenary this place is it. The owners were also so welcoming. I enjoyed my weekend.
Serene camp out
Quiet and pristine. Perfect mix of accessible and off the beaten path. Good distance between camps and great hiking paths throughout the property. If you like camping ten feet from another RV in perfect little stalls next to a busy highway then this is not for you. And if you like to get rowdy and blast music all night then again not for you. This is peaceful family bonding area. And the best thing is there is no cell phone service. I fell in love!!!
My partner and I had a fantastic stay here, the camp was beautiful! Moz was a great host, super friendly, helpful and made us a great fire upon arrival making sure we got comfortably settled in!
