Ned's property was a wonderful private holler tucked away in the mountains outside of Roanoke, VA. We stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the seclusion and beauty of the land. Ned also shared a helpful "camper guide" that made finding the location particularly stress free and was an overall incredible host.

Some observations for perspective campers:
- The camping area is simply incredible and offers plenty of shade thanks to the beautiful maple taking up residence in the center
- Firewood is ample if you walk into the treeline and forage for some deadwood, Ned also provides logs for a small fee if that interests you as well
- The field to access the site was fine for us to drive through, however coordinate with Ned and see how much rain they have had recently. It could quickly become a problem for anyone without a 4x4.

Awesome location right in the mountains nestled by a creek - everything was great minus two exceptions:
- be aware that there is a road nearby which doesn’t necessarily have much traffic, but you can definitely hear cara going by frequently
- when I returned from hiking one afternoon, my dog and I went down to the creek and there was someone on a moped also accessing the creek. I was not expecting anyone in that close proximity which freaked me out a bit.

What a beautiful property! We enjoyed our stay so much that we asked to spend an extra night and felt lucky that no one else was scheduled. Ned was super gracious when we arrived and the site had been prepared for us perfectly— including composite, recycle and trash bins, a picnic table and delicious spring water. We hadn’t expected to be so well cared for, so this was a treat!

The site bumps up to a gorgeous creek that babbled beautifully, providing a serene natural backdrop during our trip. I can see that it would be super fun swimming in it later in the year when temps rise. We watch deer run through the field and listened to birds chirping. There are a few cars that come down the road so you aren’t totally isolated but it doesn’t interrupt the peaceful feeling you have there. What an incredible escape. Our intended hike nearby (McAfee’s Knob, part of the AT) was a mere 10 min drive from the property — so easy. There were so many other trailheads around, we could have spent a week exploring the area!

FYI: I have t-mobile and was actually able to locate the property easily and accurately with my Maps app. I had service there the whole time, while my boyfriend (Verizon) did not. Something to keep in mind.

If you book this site, you will not regret it! We can’t wait to come back. Thanks, Ned!!

Ned was a wonderful host and I would highly recommend staying at his beautiful property. An unexpected blessing was the lovely river/stream behind his house that is wonderful for a morning swim. Though it was raining the night I stayed I still really enjoyed the property and creek. Ned was very welcoming upon arriving, showed me around the property and also provided perfectly stacked firewood for a fire that night. A very calm and safe place as well and easy to find from the main roads. Thank you!

This is a beautiful spot. A lovely private field right next to a creek. You'll arrive to find a fire ring, picnic table, fresh water, and a solar shower (tho we just dipped in the creek to clean off). There is lovely hiking and biking very near (you're about 5 miles from the Appalachian Trail). We would definitely stay here again.

I would definitely recommend this camping spot! We plan to go back - maybe with friends, as there's clearly space!

Ned was a friendly and gracious host who made us feel very welcome, while also giving us our privacy once we settled at the campsite! Ned provided some basics (as described in the post) that made our stay that much easier, particularly the picnic table and fire pit.

The creek was beautiful to walk along (and take a chilly dip in!), and provided wonderful background noise for falling asleep. As people who primarily "car camp," it was the best of both worlds - a peaceful and private space in a gorgeous setting, and the reassurance that Ned was not far through the woods, should anything unexpected happen (which it didn't!). Lastly, it was wonderful to be able to have our dog off-lease so he could appreciate the outdoors with us!

Ned's spot was beautiful! It's a large open field that you have all to yourself, plus lots of wooded areas to wander around and a river to both fish and take a dip. The pictures don't do it justice. Also, Ned was a great host. He was available to answer all of our questions and took the time to show us around despite the fact that it was raining and dark outside. I would definitely go back to this space and probably bring a boatload of friends.

Ned’s field was a lovely space to camp for a few nights and have easy access to a lot of hiking trails. The field is bordered by a lovely creek which was a sweet song to sleep to. The picnic table and fire pit were nice for the time spent cooking, eating, reading, etc. Once Ned gets a pit toilet or outhouse on the property it will be a stellar place to stay.

Great place! Beautiful meadow, tons of trees for enos, we easily gathered fire wood for our campfire! The host was so kind and supplied us with everything we needed! It truly was a retreat from busy, everyday life. We went in march, and we are excited to go back when it’s warmer so we can swim in the swimming hole! Some of our group also hiked up the mountain right beside the camp and had a blast!
