Rv camping meets winery tasting
The RV was on a amazing setting, in a middle of the vineyard, on the rolling hills of Virginia. We enjoyed great wines, and meet the original owner of the winery. Al Weed is a wonderful host, a great story teller who made us feel very welcomed! We learned from him about the land conservation efforts of Nelson County and enjoyed a hike on a pitoresque trail nearby--- woods, waterfalls, amazing views! The site had all types of electric hook ups and we got a water tank fill-up. Overall 5 star experience, thank you!
Beautiful scenery and tasty wine
The site was beautiful and the wine was great too! We had a wonderful overnight stay at Mountain Cove Vineyards. We have a small camper that we were able to pull up to the electric hook-up, which was an added bonus. Very quaint and private. We walked over to the tasting room to try out the wines and were not disappointed! Everything was lovely, and we intend to come back again soon!
Our stay was quiet and peaceful.
Even though the weather could have been better, we had a great stay. The hayfield that we stayed in allowed us to have as much privacy as we needed with beautiful views. Thanks to some rain, we didn’t get a chance to actually get up to the winery, but we’ll be back for sure to try again.
This is the best campsite we've been to yet. Beautiful, peaceful piece of land with great hiking trails only steps away. Al is very friendly and accommodating and respectful of our space. All around a great experience.
Beautiful views of
Mountain Cove Vineyards was spectacular! Al was a wonderful host!!! We arrived during daylight and picked a spot perched up On the hill so we could look at the vineyards and the mountains across the way. It was perfect. Hay bales scattered around the field and yellows and oranges still showing off at the end of fall foliage. While we set up our van Al came over and made sure we were happy w our location. We then went over for a wine tasting with our dogs. He had a Woodstove lit for the tasting. But we ended up sitting outside in the garden area to watch the sun setting. Most perfect. The solitude and space has always been our priority when we do Hipcamps. And this did not let us down. As the afternoon went on. He offered the firepit and bathrooms if we wanted. Which was very kind. The firepit was so nice and the dogs just loved hanging out by the warmth of the fire. We were lucky enough to get a few glimpses of the full moon on Halloween night. We were overly impressed and grateful for Al opening up his vineyard to us and our dogs. Highly recommend.
There was a trail across the street that he mentioned but we ended up just enjoying his land. But nice to know there was something across the street to explore
Rhe the next time. Even though it’s a preserve he mentioned dogs would be ok. Next time. :)
Beautiful setting, lots of space.
It’s a beautiful valley with lots of space in the field where we camped. Al was welcoming and we enjoyed the wine and wonderful setting. It’s adjacent to Fortune’s Cove wildlife preserve where there are 2 excellent loop hikes. We felt safe and alone all at the same time. It was perfect!
