The Miller Homestead was great. A beautiful property offering a few different choices in camping styles. Matt is a gracious, thoughtful host. The only thing I can flag is that the property sits directly off a semi-busy road with the woods butting up fairly close. Unfortunately not much the host can do about that but just a warning to bring ear plugs or camp on the far side of the property to avoid car noise.
Great tent camping, awesome host
Matt was an awesome host. Very welcoming and quick to answer any questions. The camping site was off of a short path into the wooded portion of his property, providing privacy but quick access to the parking area, fire pit, and tree swing. Location is great for those visiting UVA or wanting to check out the many breweries and wineries in the area, or hiking spots which can be found all over with a short drive.
Matt was very welcoming, attentive to our needs, and a great host all around! I was nervous about hearing the traffic pass by on the main road others had wrote about in their reviews but it was not bad at all! I did not have to use the ear plugs I had brought others had recommended. The crickets and other bugs In the trees around us were actually more noisy than the random car that would pass by. Gathering around the fire and seeing the stars and moon at night was a great ending to our trip. I’d highly recommend staying here and I plan on visiting again soon.
Matt was there to meet me when I checked in and showed me where everything was. I chose a site in the woods so I could put my hammock up. It’s a little close to the road, you can hear traffic but I stayed here because it is very convenient to Charlottesville so of course there is a road nearby.
Matt’s campsite was perfect for what my friends and I were looking for being right between the best wineries/breweries while still being close to downtown. Matt greeted us when we arrived and gave us the rundown of the property. We chose to camp in the woods which had a nice level of privacy and provided a little extra shelter from the rain. You could hear the road from our campsite, but we didn’t find it overly loud or intrusive. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely book again!
Hosts were great very friendly and met us at check in and came out to farewell us as well!
Property is off a busier road so as others mentioned ear plugs couldn’t hurt if you’re sensitive to it, otherwise very peaceful. We camped a little downhill into the woods since it felt a little residential up on the lawn. The wooded spot was a little tight for set up for our 4 person tent but we managed to fit in and have a great time each night!
Wooded site from parking spot is downhill about 200ft +, and portable bathroom is like a compost toilet that you can take down into the woods to be closer to your site.
