We love the beauty and spirit of our farm so much that we want to share it with people who appreciate that kind of vibe. You'll find that we are very relaxed and inclusive and welcome guests to enjoy the farm and spend time with our animals.

We're located in historic Scottsville Virginia (the heart of Virginia’s Monticello Wine Region). Seated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the 25 acre farm is home to many domestic, farm, and wild animals. The lush green rolling pastures offer exquisite views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and direct access to the James River. It truly is a serene private paradise.

Our focus at the farm is two-fold. Promote agro-ecotourism and support our sister non-profit, Gentle Moon Conservancy. The mission of Gentle Moon is to provide lifetime care and shelter for animals in-need and inspire environmental stewardship through the power of individual action. We welcome guests to soak in the peace of the farm. While we don’t sell goods or produce yet, we would greatly appreciate a donation made to Gentle Moon. 100% of support received goes directly to care for our rescue animals and support our Patron of the Bees environmental program. We also offer beehive sponsorships!

We are a working farm and have livestock guardian dogs who free roam guarding the farm. River, Ben and Daisy are very friendly and will likely greet you when you first get here. They work mostly at night so don’t be surprised if you hear them sounding off in the shadows. Our incredibly social hound Huck will probably make an appearance as well. He's been known to sleep in campers' tents with them at night if given the opportunity.

Safety and privacy is very important to us. The farm gate is locked overnight and reopened early in the morning. The dogs treat our guests as part of their family and patrol the campsites at night keeping critters away.

If your stay is for a special occasion, please let us know beforehand and we can work with you to make your campsite extra special.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Valhalla Mountain! The hosts were lovely, and welcomed all campers to visit with their many farm animals and walk around their beautiful property (which has James River access!). We loved the goats, geese, sheep, turkeys, etc. The hosts lock the gate to the property in the evening and have several friendly dogs to keep watch over the guests :) We felt very safe. Will definitely return again soon!

We had a fabulous stay at Valhalla Mountain Farm! Katie and Jennifer made us feel welcome on their beautiful, peaceful property immediately upon arrival. You are free to choose where you'd like to set up within the upper pasture, but they had their recommended spot marked out with a cone and we took their advice and were not disappointed. Sunset was breathtaking from our camp, and once night fell, we watched a lightning storm off in the distance and stargazed - both in the same night. They were gracious hosts and took plenty of time to chat with us, sharing their story about the farm and introducing us to the many animals they care for. I would highly recommend a stay here!

Had a great time! Katie was so welcoming. We were able to swim in the James River, meet and pet all the animals on the farm, and build a fire at night with firewood from the farm. It was a great trip and we’d definitely do it again!!

Beautiful farm site, open and green leading to a wonderful animal area with chickens, goats , a peacock, cats and dogs.
The site is great if you own a camper because the site does not provide a bathroom or privacy. If you choose go tent camp its good for a one night stay. The sites do not have a fire ring or pit, be prepared by bringing a shovel to dig a pit or bring a portable firepit.
Hosts are SUPER nice, conversational and welcoming. Great for kids to learn about a farm and animals.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place and the hosts, Katie and Jen. They were so accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. We brought our four kids with us and they loved being able to visit with the animals. The farm is absolutely beautiful, too, with amazing views! I highly recommend this place.

Our family of two adults and one seven year old camped here for three nights and had a great time. The view from the hilltop over the mountains is gorgeous, especially at sunset. The sites are quiet, grassy, surrounded by acres of woodland, and well distanced. But the best part was our hosts, who are amazing. They are gracious and welcoming, and very kid-friendly, taking time to show our son all around the farm and its animals. He may have spent almost as much time around the barn as he did at our campsite. :D

We highly recommend Valhalla Mountain Farm.
