The wooded area is next to my house. There's about 4 acres to explore and a gravel road hardly traveled for a nice walk to a view for a great sunset.  Harrisonburg is 5 minutes from here and has lots of night life, micro breweries etc. I have long power cords if you need electric at the campsite. You may hear owls hooting at night.  The campsite is under white pines with a thick bed of soft pine needles.  Shenandoah National Park is about 35 minutes away if you go to the 33 entrance and 45 minutes away to go to the Luray entrance. Lots of bears there and hikes to waterfalls. No hunting there.

Orv was an amazing host who opened up his home for my fiancée and I! He took us sight seeing around the property and properties near his home, and he was very knowledgeable in botany and birds and other animals! If you want to learn a tremendous amount about wildlife around Harrisonburg, VA and other areas he's been to, while simultaneously staying on a beautiful bluff, book his mushroom farm!

Tucked under a nice pine. Orv, showing us to a beautiful meadow.Orr showed us a finch's bird nest.Fresh mint on Orv's land.

A cozy camping spot with beautiful views. Orv was an excellent host, too. So kind and generous. And the mushrooms are delicious!

Orv was great host. Showed me around the place. Nice to have a house adjacent for shower and bathroom. Nice spot to pitch a tent under some pine trees. Soft base of pine needles.

On my way from Georgia Mts to Philly I decided to try my first Hip camp. Orv was extrememly helpful in helping me to get a level spot for my small pop up camper. Offered the use of the kitchen and shower facilities. Beautiful views of the surrounding Mts, So much nicer than staying at a KOA. I did not have time to visit the many activities in the local area. I would definitely recommend his property.

Orv's campsite at the mushroom was super convenient to stay at for a quick trip to Harrisonburg. There's ample room for a tent, a firepit, and easy access to a clean bathroom inside the house steps. Orv is a great host and very communicative, Would definitely recommend!

I had a nice time staying at Orv's place. His property is very interesting. The campsite was nice. The ground is soft so it's easy to sleep on and there are some pine trees that provide some nice additional cover. The house and bathroom, which I had access to, were very clean and well maintained. Orv was very nice. He was very prompt in communication, which liked, and he was very accommodating during my stay. He also showed me his mushroom farm, which was cool. I hope to stop by there again some day soon.

Orv is an exceptional host. He was quick to respond to our texts, he greeted us when we arrived and showed us his mushroom business. He supplied us with firewood and made sure we were comfortable at the tent site. In addition, the restroom was well appointed and very clean.
The location was perfect, only 5 miles from Harrisonburg with multiple craft breweries and an easy drive to hiking along Skyline. The campsite was under a group of mature pine trees and the campfire ring was a short distance away. We were a little surprised at how close the campsite was to the house and how close the house was to the highway. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Hawks Nest to others who want a great location and are ok with a little more urban setting.

Your brewery passport for the valley. Some of the wood that is used to grow mushrooms. Orv taught us how he grows mushrooms. Very interesting. Check out all the options!
