Nestle on the Pamunkey Indian Reservation also known for Spiritual Healing that overlooks the Pamunkey River. The Pamunkey people have been here for over 10,000 years making this area one of the oldest reservations in the country.
We have a small platform sitting right on the water for privacy and beautiful views of the river. You will see Bald Eagles, Grey Herons, Ducks, Geese, River Otters, and so much more. During low tide, the water is pulled back into the main part of the river and this is where you will see the wildlife during this time. There are up to 8 Bald Eagles here at a time and during the Spring to Fall, you will see Osprey hunting for food right in front of you and usually getting chased by the Eagles. What an awesome site to be able to camp and be a part of to see so many creatures all in their natural habitat.
During the full moon, the water on the campsite will rise and you will need to camp closer to the land. Also, when the tied is out, you will not be able to launch the canoe or kayak.
There is a short path to walk and it is a very short incline.
During Spring through the fall, the museum is opened for visitors at 5.00 each visitor. We also have a gift shop and only cash is accepted at this time. Check out the Pamunkey Indian Reservation website and always call to make sure their hours haven't changed due to Covid.

We unfortunately had to cut our stay short, but the site was well put together and the view was absolutely amazing! Late morning brought some wildlife to watch and there is plenty to do and see in the area. There is boating available, and the Hosts were great. very helpful and friendly
