We have enjoyed playing in and around the Thatcher Brook for 20 years. Now we're looking to share that with others. Located adjacent to the Waterbury Community Path and Ben and Jerry's, its front and center in the Waterbury/Stowe recreation mecca. Take your bike to Hunger Mountain or Perry Hill trail systems. Walk to Ben and Jerry's for a quick ice cream. Maybe take a very short drive to the Waterbury Center State Beach, or Cold Hollow Cider Mill, or many of the fantastic micro breweries surrounding us like the Alchemist or Prohibition PIg. The property allows primitive camping. Be aware, there are no facilities (like bathrooms). We ask that you leave no trace... take out what you take in. There are several commercial businesses nearby, including a major grocery store, for all your other needs.

Wildlife is abundant here, including bears, so practice good camping technique by not leaving food, or other smelly items, in tents. The area has excellent cell phone coverage with 4G.

A detailed map of various locations is located in the photos section. Sites #1 and #2 are closer to the house, and parking is available either in the driveway or in the yard. Sites 3 and 4 are a bit rougher and parking is down the road. These spots might offer more privacy, but also aren't as smooth, so good mats/pads are recommended.

Beautiful views of the classic Vermont landscape, with the charm of Waterbury, access to mountains on all sides & the infamous Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory. All in all, endless opportunities for adventures & good eats!

Really great spot, had a great stay. Really nice, a little close to the road so not for you if total seclusion and immersion in nature is what you're after but still enough privacy otherwise. Would definitely return.

Great location we love the area from Warren to Stowe, we already sleep with cars passing our house so we didn’t mind the sound of traffic, keeps predators away. A short bushwhack to a nice little river to take a quick bath in. Choose your own privacy setting, beautifully maintained yard, hope you like blueberries and raspberries. Quick hello and a quick goodbye just the way we like it 👌🏾

The site was perfect and secluded! We booked it so last minute and were settled in seconds.

Take this review with a grain of salt, because my buddy and I visited in mid November--not the ideal time of year for outdoor camping in the northeast. Also, we arrived after dark and had to leave early morning. However, here are a few short notes of our experience: When we arrived, Dan was quick to shoot us a message, making sure we knew where and how to park along the highway near his place, and he was easy to communicate with. However, we had a hard time finding a great place to set up the tent, and we didn't find a place to build a fire (which was sort of important given the time of year we were camping). I will say, though, that the land and the creek near which we set up are both very pretty, and I wish we could have spent more time exploring the area the next day.

Dan was a great host even though we only met briefly. He was quick to respond with directions and to let us know about the fireworks in town. Great spot to stay if you’re in a pinch for a night and need a place to set up a tent and crash. Site is close to the road so traffic was a bit noisy but all in all still a comfortable spot and would definitely recommend in a pinch!

Dan and his family were extremely nice and welcoming upon arrival. They have a gorgeous huge piece of property near Thatcher Brook and a main road. We knew we would be close to a road when booking (read the other reviews) so we didn’t mind this at all. Waterbury is a really rad little town with excellent craft beer establishments and restaurants, which Dan can suggest. This place was awesome and beautiful. If you want to do some bushwhacking you can get way away from the road but we didn’t find the need. His ducks are also awesome.

Our stay there was perfect! The garden is amazing and we didn't feel the proximity of the road at all. We will definitely come back. Dan is a wonderful host!

We enjoyed our stay in Waterbury! The road was very busy, and therefore loud, because we stayed during peak foliage, but overall it was a great location! If you’re staying at Dan’s, I highly recommend checking out Zenbarn down the road! It’s such an amazing restaurant!
