Fall is here!  Time for campfires at night, Apple cider and leaf peeping!   FYI, We do have availability open on some weekends through the end of October.  However I cannot place a two night minimum just on weekends with HipCamp therefore you need to contact us to inquire with your dates of interest .

Looking for a warm and cozy space?  Our vintage trailers are just the spot!  Our 12 acre property is heavily wooded and late spring through fall are great times to enjoy the outdoors.

Camping with a trailer is a fun experience for the adventurous.  While we do not have an enclosed kitchen, our outdoor “summer kitchen” cook station has some good basics.  These include a 3 burner stove, BBQ grill and smoker, pans, utensils, olive oil, and dishwashing area, table and chairs.  We do want to emphasize that you are camping...this outdoor structure is not pristine.  We have a roof over the side of a container with electric, refrigerators and a gas stove. It is NOT an enclosed kitchen, there are dirt and plywood floors and the occasional chipmunks and skunk visiting at night.  The trailers are not “perfect” but none of us will be at 73 and 64 years old!! :) NOTE-the communal camp pans have been well used on top of hot gas flames so if Uber cleanliness is your thing, feel free to bring your own... Bring anything else that you want to add for your own comfort, such as a cooler and ice.  You may want to bring flashlights and rain gear.  There are many choices for dining in our area if you prefer to eat out.

We are adding some significant upgrades to the cooking area and composting bathroom.  We currently have a ditch where we are installing water lines, internet cat 6 cable and more electric.  Please be aware that this is here in the yard however it is NOT near your trailer.  You will need to cross it after parking.  The benefit next year will be a sink with running cold water and at some point a shower.

Our Curtis Wright is 73 years old and the El Rey is 64.  Please expect some vintage aspects, such as door handles, screens, windows, awnings etc. that function according to their age and we will be upgrading them periodically.  These are not new modern trailers and we think that adds to the appeal! However they are clean and cozy!

Your trailer is down by the pond, nearby is the large fire pit, composting outhouse, stove and BBQ grill.  Our sweet wildlife pond is pristine, spring fed, and has an abundance of wildlife in and around it.  You may even see the barred owls hunting for frogs at night.  Both trailers are pondside, the El Rey is across from the Curtis Wright.Swimming is allowed, Please read the house rules regarding rinsing off prior to swimming and refraining from getting suntan oil etc. in the pond. We rent either the 1955 El Rey or our 1947 Curtis Wright Airstream.

Nights can be chilly so be prepared with warm clothes.  Please be aware of weather conditions as rain can impact your camping!  That’s part of what makes it so fun to be inside a trailer instead of in a tent on the ground!  However mud can be part of your experience outside the trailer.

You are welcome to build a fire in the fire pit and toast marshmallows or grill.... Kindling is available as fallen branches however for larger wood, please purchase locally for whatever you intend to use, or order from us.  We do ask that you start your fire the old fashioned way and do NOT use gas, diesel etc. which will leech into the pond and harm our wildlife.  We usually have wood on site for sale, advance request is much appreciated and please pay upon arrival with cash, $10 per ample sized bundle and $15 for a bag of charcoal.

Our wonderful resident bats do a great job at night clearing insects!  Sit out by the pond and watch them arrive at dusk!   Our Phoebe Flycatchers build their mud nests all over the property and have 2 baby bird hatchings usually by mid-summer.  They help keep insects down as well.  If it’s a clear night, the stars are usually amazing in the sky over the pond.

We live up in the house and are available to you as much as you’d like!  We prefer that you do contact us with your needs to ensure a great experience.  For showers, guests can make the 5.7 mile drive down to Quechee State Park and pay a $4 day fee to use the solar showers which take quarters.  The park closes October 18th this year.  If you reserve after that date there will not be showers available.

Our place is close to Woodstock and Quechee VT. You’ll love us if you enjoy a natural setting on a mountain. We are best for couples and solo adventurers. It is a rustic environment with a great wildlife pond and woods surrounded by old stone walls. Get out and explore the area and come home at night to the cozy vintage trailer. Our 1955 El Rey OR our 1947 Curtis Wright Airstream are this season’s rentals, a cozy 20 feet in length. If one is rented we will give you the other trailer as available. The beds are somewhere between a full and queen, we provide fresh linens, pillows, blankets. There are closets and a front table and seating area, gliders and chairs outside with umbrellas. We have seating around the larger fire pit. The El Rey has its own smaller private fire pit and a small grill.  You may cook on a 3 burner propane stove in our outdoor camp cook station and we have a larger grill/smoker near the summer kitchen.  You will need charcoal for the grills.  We have firewood and charcoal for sale onsite with 24 hour advance notice.   Included in your stay is olive oil, salt and pepper, organic tea bar, electric kettle, complimentary coffee and cream. We have State Park “daily tested for purity” water available. We also have basic dishes, silverware and pots and pans for use. The communal camp cookware has been used over high gas flames so if Uber cleanliness is your thing...you may want to bring your own.  For chilly nights we have a small electric heater in the camper closet and extra blankets. There is a fan for when it’s warmer.

Our composting toilet is inside a small barn structure with towels, bug repellent, cleaning supplies. For showers, head down to Quechee State Park and for a $4.00 entrance fee, use their solar showers which take quarters. PLEASE NOTE- you do not have our property to yourselves. We live onsite and on any given night, both trailers can be rented. They are across the pond from each other. The cook station and composting toilet are communally used. We do give our guests privacy but we are available to assist with needs by phone, or if you see us on the property. We will close camp in October and re-open each spring.

We are adding some significant upgrades this summer to the summer kitchen and composting bathroom.  We currently have a ditch where we are installing water lines, internet cat 6 cable and electric.  Please be aware that this is here in the yard however it is NOT near your trailer.  You will need to cross it after parking.  The benefit later will be a sink with running cold water and at some point a shower.

IMPORTANT-PLEASE PLAN TO CHECK IN BETWEEN 3 and 6:30 pm. We understand that you may wish to arrive later at the end of your day, but this is not a location where we can accommodate arrivals after dark. We need to show you the nuances of the trailers, cook station, composting outhouse and property. After checking in, you can head back out for dinner, shopping etc. as we are a mere 5 miles from Quechee. We further request that you communicate your arrival time no later that early the day of so that we can greet you. We plan our day around your arrival and ask that you respect our time as well. NEW- we now charge a “cash only exact change” late arrival fee of $25.00 if you are past check in time. Unfortunately we are experiencing too many guests who choose to arrive well after dark, which impacts our availability to provide you the best check in service and interrupts our evening late into the night. Any photography done with our property must be for personal use only and not professional use nor intended for publication. You must have advance (prior to arrival) permission for professional photography which will also require a contract for fees and terms. We also must restrict the use of our property to registered guests only, not your friends. We also require that you read our house manual in the trailers to commit to requirements such as no smoking or open flame in trailers, use of pond, etc. All guests swim and hike our property at their own risk.  We ask that you only swim during daylight hours.  We are NOT a clothing optional space. Please respect all guests by swimming in appropriate clothing.  Thank you.  We reserve the right to refuse service.

We had an absolutely amazing time at Good Night Moon! Juli was super accommodating and communicative, and the site was stunningly beautiful! Great little pond that's great for swimming, beautiful stars at night, sweet outdoor kitchen set up, and the coziest little campers ever! For how small they look from the outside the inside is really spacious feeling. Also they had the CLEANEST and biggest outhouse (with a composting toilet) we've ever used! Plus, we were right near the a ton of great antique place. Would definitely come back again!

Swimming dock and camper tucked in the woods. The outhouse. Most spacious outhouse ever! Super clean composting toilet. The summer kitchen.

Comfortable little trailer and the compostable outhouse was super clean / surprisingly cute! Didn't realize we were going to be sharing the campsite with another trailer, so it made private campfire time a challenge.

Such a great spot!! Beautiful, funky, private, and comfortable. Juli was great with communication and Jim offered us good local recommendations. Swimming in the pond was so refreshing! We stayed during a heat wave and the airstream even had AC. It felt very luxurious for “camping”. Would definitely come back!

Me and my sister came from nyc for a little getaway. We had the best time and would highly recommend. Juli was a great host and provided us everything we needed- coffee, milk, a stove, fridge, bug spray etc. The bed was so cozy and the surrounding area was beautiful.

My boyfriend and I booked our trip to stay in the ‘55 El Rey after I found the site on Hipcamp, and we were ecstatic to stay in a little piece of history. The entire experience, however, completely blew away our expectations. Juli and Jim were the kindest, most caring hosts we’ve ever met. The campsite features a private pond, kitchen area, a composting toilet, and community fire pit. Our neighbors Micha and Diane were excellent camp mates, and we had a great night getting to know them by the fire. They left a day early, and Juli and Jim let us stay in the ‘47 Airstream on our last night because they knew how much we loved the trailers. I’ve never encountered such a wonderful pair of hosts; their only goal was to make sure we enjoyed our trip without any hassle. I can’t say enough about how great our stay was. The trailers were spotless and the site is very private and easy to access. It’s close to many local attractions, like the Quechee Gorge, Buttermilk Falls, and Killington. Bonus: If you’re in the mood for great local food and beer it’s only a few minutes from Worthy Kitchen, hands down the best restaurant in the area. Juli and Jim absolutely made this one of the best vacations we have ever had, and if you like retro history with your camping experience you will love GMV! Thank you Juli and Jim!
