Goat Head Farms
Convenient Location!
David's land was perfect. He was extremely accommodating. The location was easy to find and just as it was described. Conveniently located for spending time at Sand Hollow state park.

Goat Head Farms Field Camp
Very minimal and not exactly as advertised. Still had a good time, though.

Goat Head Farms Field Camp
Site was as expected - located in a field surrounded by goats, cows and horses, which was fun! Pretty basic site - easy to park inside the fence, set up a tent, and yes, located within walking/driving distance from River Rock Roasting Co, which is helpful for morning bathroom trips & coffee. We stayed two nights and left our tent and some other things at site and nothing was disturbed. Easy 30 min drive to Zion & about 5 min from Hurricane, UT, where there is anything/everything you could need. Only drawback is not much privacy for ya know, bathroom use, but if you’re not shy it’s not a big deal. Also not a lot of shade, so if you’re spending a whole summer day in Zion area, have a plan to spend time somewhere with water/shade or A/C - it was 105 and didn’t drop to around 90 until 9-10pm. (We may have went to see a movie to escape the heat). It was fine at site after sun went down. Would definitely reccomend for an easy place to pitch a tent!

Goat Head Farms Field Camp
This new listing seems to be going through a few growing pains, but I would happily stay there again and recommend it to anyone. We botched our campsite reservation for our first night at Zion and this served as a solid basecamp for a night despite a few hiccups. The host was out of cell service for almost our entire stay and hadn't set up the hose of potable water noted in the listing. We also never found a lake for bathing as the listing suggests, but DID find an awesome swim spot via the local access point to the Virgin River - we ended up at a tiny waterfall that felt like a jacuzzi, so definitely no harm no foul on this point. The drinking water was a bit more troublesome, but we had a bunch of Nalgenes and Camelbaks that we filled up at the nearby brewery (and had a few beers...) so, again, no issues at the end of the day. Be sure to check for area fire bans - we started one without realizing there was a regional ban in effect, so had to put it out earlier than expected with a spare gallon of water. I'm more documenting this as a heads up of easy and fun alternatives if you end up here and in a similar spot. Again, I would definitely recommend this listing - the location rocks and honestly led to some of the more memorable moments from our trip.

Goat Head Farms Field Camp
The site was basically as I figured it would be. Pretty basic field. Which was all good. I has a couple of minor frustrations though, in that I couldn’t get ahold of our host for about 5-6 hours after arriving (until around 10pm!). There was no obvious fire pit, and there was some scrap looking wood there, but nothing that was prepped to be firewood. (We had a hatchet, but when a site says “firewood provided” you assume it’ll be ready.) Also it said that there would be water available, but the water was not running to the hose that was out there. Which made us quite worried when we decided to do a small fire. We ended up using some of our drinking water to put it out!!! The host finally called me around 10pm and told me some of the info I had questions on, but it was all too little too late. Pretty frustrating. Turns out he was hiking somewhere with little to no reception. Totally fine. But i just would have appreciated an email or something ahead of time so I’d know. He was VERY nice. I just really expected a little more in the form of communication. A decently quiet spot to camp for a night or so. Not much shade (& when we were there the shady areas were muddy). The coffee shop across the street was amazing though. Loved getting dinner and breakfast there!

Goat Head Farms Field Camp
Good experience. David was a responsive host. Only gripe is that he has a bird that likes to squawk early in the morning. Otherwise a good place to pitch a tent.
