Simply Wyldwood is a 10-acre homestead in Wyldwood Texas 20 miles east of Austin that includes woodland hiking trails and hosts My Yoga Barn which is an 800 square foot yoga/dance/martial arts movement space complete with yoga props.  The Barn is surrounded by nature which includes a large 100-year-old Blackjack Oak on one side, a food forest with chickens on the other, and the Post Oak Savannah landscape throughout. You can enjoy the windows open or closed but the windows do not have shades to allow you to be as close to nature as possible without the bugs.  You are secluded from any neighbors and away from the main house. The back of the barn and the private bathroom is near the back wall with no windows for more privacy. Bring your own bedding for floor sleeping or rent an air mattress from us.  The full bath inside has a tub for soaking or you can enjoy the outdoor hot/cold shower under the stars. You have access to the large communal fire pit on-site when safe to have fires.  When you book the Barn all other sites are closed unless also booked by you.

There are two decks attached to the Barn.  The front deck faces East and is great for a sunrise practice, soaking up some rays, and night sky viewing. There is outdoor seating with tables and chairs on the side deck near the Oak along with a ping-pong table (balls and paddles included)  and a gas grill. Various sit spots are located through trails and gardens.

We are a “Leave No Trace” venue.  So whatever you pack in you pack out.  All trash and recycling go back home with you.

You can add a number of products or services to your stay or visit a number of local attractions and nearby restaurants.

Additions to consider:

  • Private or small group Yoga Asana or Yoga Meditation or combination with certified Yoga and Meditation Instructor
  • Guided nature connection (forest bathing) through the food forest then through the trails on the property with certified Nature Therapy/Mindfulness Guide.

Nearby Restaurants to consider:

  • Leo's Italian Restaurant
  • The Texas Roadstand
  • MaCoco
  • The Hyatt.

Things to know about visiting rural Texas:

You are visiting a working homestead/farm in rural Bastrop County.  If you live in the city you may not have experience with some of the country sounds.  Some of the things you may occasionally hear are; roosters, native wildlife, and domestic animals.  Gunfire IS NOT allowed on the property but safe shooting is legal in Texas in certain areas under certain circumstances.  Because you are visiting a rural Texas community you may hear the occasional gunshot from another property.

My girlfriends and I loved staying at yoga barn! If you want a spiritual/reflexion getaway yoga barn is the place for you. Rebecca was the nicest host and made us feel at home. She guided us through her amazing gardens and trails, and taught us how to connect with nature. Staying at the yoga barn was nothing but clean and comfortable. We had yoga mats and equipment available for our use. As an all girl group we felt safe and taken care of. In the morning she made us tacos and coffee which were delicious and really appreciated. Our experience was 100/10 and we hope to come back soon!

Beautiful place! Definitely recommend to those into yoga, martial arts, and dance that can use the wonderful space for their practice.

Slight issue that there are zero window coverings. It’s great and lets loads of light and moon light in, but it also can make you feel kind of exposed during your stay.

The grounds are gorgeous and lovely. The hens are great, the rooster can be a buzzkill first breaking Dawn however.

We will likely stay again, but hope window coverings are installed.

Gwen, thank you for picking My Yoga Barn for your nature experience and providing feedback. I will clarify in the description about the windows. Maybe the Glamping Tent next time. You can zip the windows up in that spot. Ah yes...you met our rescue rooster. He's a great addition to our hens for protection and working the garden and can be a talker sometimes.

My old friend and I had such a wonderful experience with Rebecca at her lovely and peaceful property just outside Austin. From the working vegetable garden with chickens and growing orchard to the nurture paths meandering though the property & immaculate nature centered main building, Rebecca is a pleasure and a most gracious hostess! The stars at night are big and bright at Wyldwood Yoga Barn~ Highly recommended!

Rebecca was a great host and the yoga barn was beautiful. I do wish it could have been more private but it’s not a deal breaker.

Beautiful place. Simple, but amazing! I gave my wife a night away for her birthday. She loved it and thought it was refreshing. She would love to gather more of her girlfriends for another weekend getaway where she could lead them in some yoga also.

My stay at the yoga barn was amazing, but not typical. We didn’t realize just how crazy the weather was going to be here in Texas and booked a couple of nights with my boys out in the barn. We fed the chickens, saw lots of birds, played in the snow, and had an amazing time. We ended up being stranded for several days, but Rebecca was super helpful, shared some staples and even shared a dinner of roast beef with us!

Through the whole polar vortex, we never lost power. We had hot water through most of it. We luckily were able to make it home before food ran out. It was an adventure, and we were so lucky to have such a great place and host to keep us safe in the -6 windchill.

The property is stunning, and I can’t wait to go back when it’s not freezing.
