Our Heritage and Legacy is a  beautiful shaded lawn under a canopy of old oaks that are a few hundred years old and pecan trees. There is a huge privacy wall of bamboo that gives you a sense of absolute privacy, with a cliff on the opposing side to encase you and your loved ones in this majestic retreat.  There is also a pull up/ hook up area for travel trailers and smaller rv's with a 20 amp plug in and a 50 amp plug in. This is on a gorgeous area on the deepest swimming hole of the Blanco River in Wimberley, Texas!  OH, and the entire Blanco River in Wimberley is private! There is no river accessible camping available to the public, anywhere in Wimberley!  Has two beautiful docks on the water: one is perfect for morning coffee, wine sipping, fishing, meditating, yoga, with an adjacent access ladder and steps to get in and out of the water, the other has a large bench, steps to the water for entering with water toys, etc, and a rope swing! This property includes a cliff to climb with ropes installed and amazing views of the Blanco river valley east and west from the top! 2  kayaks are available for your use with reservation with no rental fees. Additional water toys are available for rent and use as desired/needed: 3 additional kayaks($35/day), 4 tubes($6/day), a SUP ($35/day), along with two other beanbag type chair floats($8/day)-. You may either rent through Hipcamp, in advance, or on site at check in.   There are electrical hookups for rv's/travel trailers (one 20 amp and one 50 amp)- however, all campers whether tent, RV's/Travel trailers will need to bring in your own water supply for your general use, please. (The property is on a rain water collection/purification system, and has very limited water for the overall property use-to have water trucked in to refill the tank is quite expensive. Campers may NOT use the water supply connected to the house- please respect.) There are two cliff goats, Thelma and Louise, who love to come visit and snuggle as they travel the cliff and the river road, daily. There is nothing they love more than to be hand fed and they are both incredibly tame! You will have absolute privacy on these 3 acres, with no neighbors, beyond those folks who live across the river on their large pieces of land! The rate is $190/night for up to 4 campers, and each additional camper beyond, $25/pp. This property is not appropriate for children under 12 because of safety concerns with the cliff, the river and the road bisecting the property that leads to the river.  No children under 12 allowed. I am quite firm about this, and I apologize. What makes it an amazing property, a destination for camping and exploring, also makes it a safety risk for younger children. There is an antique fireplace that is from the origins of the property over a century ago on the large outdoor patio and a huge fire pit on the cliff top.  Bundles of wood are available to purchase at $8 each. We are happy to stock each firepit area with bundles of wood, per your request. You may also purchase a fire starter stick for $5/each. (I did previously supply those, but they kept walking off at the end of each groups stay- thank you for understanding). NOTE: Current Burn Ban in effect- when we get significant rainfall- which is not expected for at least through the end of the month of August, 2020, if not longer. There is also a full size refrigerator and freezer available for your use during your stay. The overall vibe is absolute peace, serenity, calm, and relaxation. In the evenings, if you are calm, still and quiet, foxes, and raccoons shall run all around your area. It is simply the best of nature, being there! The famous Blue Hole and Jacobs Well swimming holes are minutes away, as is the Blue Hole Regional trail system and park, along with the highly regarded Wimberley Zipline being just 5 minutes down the road, too! DO note, to swim at Jacob's Well, Blue Hole or partake in the Zipline experience requires advance online reservations. Have I mentioned the famous Wimberley Glass Works- just a 15 minute drive away! Bring your lawn games, your corn hole, and relax on the sprawling lush zoysia lawn under the evening twinkling lights strung from the oak trees that are hundreds of years old.  The best restaurants around are also anywhere from 4 - 10 minutes away- even though we are still dealing with the Covid, all restaurants are now open to limited capacity with to go options or outdoor seating.  Wimberley is a destination tourist town and a culinary journey! Fantastic bonus to add to a gorgeous location to enjoy in your little slice of heaven, peace and privacy. Please note: This is NOT a commercial campground.

With Spring break approaching, I wanted to take my 9 and 12 year olds camping. Unfortunately most State Parks were booked, fortunately I found Our Heritage. I'll break it out in the Great, Good and Bad
Great:
1. Wow the views are amazing.
2. Totally private gated property
3. An amazing patio with an 126 year old fireplace
4. Blanco river. Spring fed and clear.
5. The cliff was a favorite. It is pretty challenging
6. Sarah was an amazing host

Good
1. Well kept property
2. Wimberly is close by, with tons of things to do.
3. Shaded area with amazing trees
4. Two private docks for fishing and river entry

Bad
1. Its right on the road.
2. Road noise at night was a problem (note we did say busy peak during spring break)

Eli, I do apologize for that. That is one thing I have no control over and Wimberley is a tourist town. Add Spring Break to the equation, and traffic increases, exponentially. Two groups before you actually camped on the cliff top! Now that they boys feel more secure being up there, try that, next time? I have done that a few times, it is wonderful, peaceful!

This was a really fun place to camp! Not only was the cliff AWESOME, but having the water so close just made it a blast. The water was warm and perfect for a canoe or raft. Everything was there ready for us. This is also perfect if you have doggos that you want to keep penned in, as they obviously put a lot of TLC into making dog fences. Everything was well maintained, and the little twinkle lights made it feel luxurious. We had a fun, easy breezy time!

We were very lucky to have found this spot. The location is near to town and great for walking, biking or hiking. The river, located across the street from the camp site, is gorgeous and the view is unobstructed....very serene. The hike up the cliff was fairly easy and again the views at the top incredible
Sara is a great host. She welcomes us, made Sure we had everything we needed and also gave us a welcomed history lesson host. We hope to return soon

I would highly recommend Sara’s property. It’s absolutely gorgeous. We stayed for 2 nights and had an amazing time here. We spent all day on the river and kayaked the weather was perfect. There are plenty of things to do if you enjoy the outdoors. Both fire pit and fireplace were great to have when it got cooler in the night. Can’t not wait to come back! There is a road that crossed through the property however it didn’t impede on the trip. Was a little busy during the day but nothing at night. Again it didn’t affect us, but for those with children due consider.

We had a wonderful time at Our heritage and legacy! Sara and her husband have created a space that is fun, beautiful, relaxing, and a great escape to the hill county. You can tell they love the space by how well they upkeep the property. We would definitely return!

View from the top off the cliffs! This shows part of the very large yard.

Our experience was beyond our expectations! Beautiful spot on the river, middle of July, and the water was deep and cool! My kids loved the rope swing and I enjoyed a relaxing float! Perfect spot to relax without fear of crowds during Covid. The place was sanitized before we arrived (which made us feel comfortable). Sara made sure we had what we needed throughout our stay. We found a hidden gem and would definitely go back!

Visit from the ducksAhhhhYep! There are 2 friendly goats!Eating at the provided table under the most beautiful oak trees!

Our Heritage was exactly as advertised.
Pros
It had an amazing view from the cliff side.
Host is great.
126 year old fire place on property
Toilet on property
Lights and electricity available
The Blanco River was beautiful and clear.
Large oaks on property make great shade trees and add beauty to the property.
Gated driveway, so its private.
In Wimberly Texas, so pleanty to do for everyobe.
Blue Hole is close.
Jacobs Well is within a few minutes drive

Cons
Property is next to busy road. Constant vehicle noise (note, I did go during Spring Break so traffic could have been higher than normal)
Old abandoned home next to property an eye sore but didnt bother us.
You have to cross the road to get to river.

I hope this helps. We had a blast. The views were amazing.

Response from Sara, the Host, on April 20th, 2020

Hi Eli, in regards to the abandoned camp house adjacent to my property, the 2015 floods were devastating for all in this section of the Blanco River- every single property was decimated in total, to include my own. Not everyone could afford to rebuild as it had to be done in cash, because of the way FEMA was changing the flood plains and the rules (its complicated). Additionally, that is not my property, so I simply have no control over it. I hope you can take this into consideration. My goal, someday is to be able to buy the neighbors out and do something wonderful with that property, but they are not ready to sell as of current. Additionally, due to your expressed message about the road bisecting my property, I shall now give all campers a set of ear plugs, upon check in! When camping there myself, I had used earplugs, but it was for my tent mates snoring! Thanks for the feedback! I truly enjoyed you and your boys coming out and hope to see you all again, soon! Thanks for being amazing hipCampers!
