I can think of few combinations that are better than camping, drinking wine, and lounging on a lakeside... this property has all three! Upon arriving at the vineyard, we were greeted by Brenda, the kind and friendly host and owner of Siefert Cellars. After giving us a tasting in the Tasting Room, Brenda talked about the process of growing grapes and producing wines. Later that afternoon, we headed down to Lake Ivie with a bottle of wine in tow. The lake is a 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk through the property, and is nice spot to swim, fish, or relax.

Upon arriving at the vineyard, we were greeted by Brenda, the kind and friendly host and owner of Seifert Cellars. After giving us a tasting in the Tasting Room, Brenda talked about the process of growing grapes and producing wines. We enjoyed learning more about the industry, and we loved playing with her sweet dog Bandit!Later that afternoon, we headed down to Lake Ivie with a bottle of wine in tow. The lake is a 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk through the property, and is nice spot to swim, fish, or relax (it’s a good spot to see the sunrise, too).
Lodging is a travel trailer that can fit up to four people. A bathroom, microwave, mini-fridge/freezer, two-burner propane stove, kitchen-dinette, and sink are all included, and a chiminea and couch are right outside! Bare kitchen necessities are provided: plastic plates, bowls, silverware, cups, a kettle, a small french press, and one small pot. Be sure to bring more kitchenware if you're cooking something elaborate. You're about 25 minutes away from the nearest grocery store. The property is surrounded by a fence that is locked every night to keep the deer out, so it felt very safe.
As is mentioned on the property page, some cellphone GPS apps will not take you to the property address (I used apple maps and had a few u-turns). Following the host’s written directions will take you directly to the property!
Staying at Lakeside Winery was a unique and enjoyable experience, and we will be back.
so this'll be a fun one.
my group backed out on me last minute so i didn't end up going to the site.
i can, and will, vouch for how awesome and helpful brenda is though! throughout booking the site she was very helpful and quick to respond, as the weather shifted right before the trip she helped with last minute questions and made sure there was dry firewood for us!
i'm really looking forward to being able to actually camp here, hopefully the weather won't scare my friends off next time haha
The location is breathtaking. The vineyard is so beautiful and we really enjoyed walking around and down to the lake. The camper was comfortable. We were there during a very cold day and the water was frozen so bathroom didn’t work inside camper however we were able to use the one in the main house. The road in was also not in great condition and we got stuck. Thankfully Wade who works there managed to send help. So make sure you have four wheel drive or ask Brenda first about current conditions.
Dirty rv, dishonest host
We rented Brenda’s RV/camp site. We decided to bring our tent and I’m glad we did . No one greeted us like the other reviewers said . Prior to arriving we told Brenda that we would sleep in our tent but definitely still use the RV for showering and toileting. The RV was VERY dirty . Dirty rag on the floor, no sheets in bed -we couldn’t even use it for showering our son (infant). So bad that we left a day early . Brenda suddenly became unavailable when I expressed concerns about the cleanliness of the RV . She has yet to get back to me and I had to contact customer service to remedy the situation. They agreed with me and offered me refund . We will not stay here again . The only good part honestly was the location itself at a vineyard and near a lake .
Unique camping experience
I booked this place for Memorial Day weekend. We booked the spot that came with a Retro RV. The RV was nice and clean and provided everything we needed. Brenda the host is the nicest lady and she was around in case we needed something, but she also gave us our privacy. It was a nice experience despite that it rained all evening and we didn’t get to enjoy the bonfire or to grill our meals which took away from the experience. The lake looked nice to fish and swim except we couldn’t because of the rain. Overall, it was a great adventure and I will definitely go back when the weather permits it. We also didn’t get to do the wine tasting we prepaid for because of timing, but Brenda was very understanding and she refunded me for the wine tasting.
A lovely and calming escape
We had a wonderful time camping on Brenda's Lakefront Vineyard. I will preface that we camped on the property with our own camp supplies and did not use the camper so I can't speak to its condition.
We were there in May and there was a lovely breeze that kept us fairly cool considering the warm weather. There's not much shade on the property so I'd recomend bringing something of your own if you plant to be there when its toasty. The amount of bird song was unbelievable and the vineyards and lake view were a beautiful backdrop to relax within. Our dog was allowed to roam the property off-leash which was such a treat. He was the most relaxed I've seen him on a camp trip.
The Lake was only a 5-10 minute walk away where we took our inflatable paddle boards and rowboat. The water was a bit stinky/muddy/sludgy near the shore but nice and clean once you got about 20ft offshore. We only encountered about 2 motorboats while out there and it was Memorial Day Weekend. Although, it was terribly windy so that may have deterred some folks. We had a grand time despite the wind.
Brenda was extremely kind and welcoming. However, we did have a little difficulty communicating about where to set up upon our arrival. I recommend clarifying everything prior to your journey out to the property. Cell service is extremely limited making it hard to communicate while there.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely go back.
Simple, cozy camper
Overall, we had a great “social distancing” trip. We specifically looked for somewhere that was generally secluded. Brenda did greet us and spoke with us several times throughout the trip.
I would definitely use her specific directions to find the camp, these directions got us directly to the site. The lake area is just a few minutes walk away from the site and is fairly private.
We chose to have a wine tasting and Brenda brought all the materials directly to the camper so we could taste in private.
The Cozy Camper has everything needed and perfect for very small groups/families. There isn’t a store in close vicinity, so be sure to bring everything your group needs for your stay before arriving. The host does have items you can borrow to cook, etc. if needed.
I would mention that the shower head doesn’t work, but the bath is just fine. I’d also note that the app advised of a 12 o’clock check-in and this is not accurate. Check-in time is at 3, so just keep this in mind when you receive booking confirmation details.
Remote & relaxing
Our stay at Lakefront Vineyard & Winery was exactly what we were looking for! Accommodations were close to the lake (5 min drive) and we were able to easily transport all the necessities like the cooler, chairs, etc. from the camp area. No trees around the water so take your own canopy for shade! There were no other guests during our lake day and we had the whole beach area to ourselves. The lake was quiet and clean. Beautiful skies for stargazing!
