This was more camping/wilderness than my 3-year-old had ever experienced and it went fantastic. We arrived, rode the slide, and rode Barefoot Gees’ tractor as she helped with all of our stuff to our amazing camp site. Secluded enough and quick access to town, lake, and other outdoor activities. We could have not had a better host and true to her legendary name I did not see her ware a shoe one; in fact we adopted the vibe and got with nature. Maddie and Snowball (my elderly city dogs) felt at home immediately. We all had an adventure we will never forget and we are so thankful for Gees willingness to share her little piece of paradise and her over the top hospitality.

We loved staying at Barefoot Gee's! Here's why:

1. Linda was awesome and really what made it such a great experience. Before we even showed up she fielded multiple texts and a phone call, answering all of our questions.

2. Her property is located about ten minutes from Daingerfield State Park and is also literally right across the street from Lone Star Lake. We also went out to Caddo Lake and the drive was beautiful and only about an hour. Lake of the Pines is also close by. So location-wise, you can do a lot!

3. There is a grocery store in town for essentials but otherwise you are out in nature, and you see a lot of it. She has many beautiful birds on the property.

4. There is a good amount of privacy at the campsite. When we stayed here the other campsite was in use and we could not see or hear each other nearly at all. Linda was also very respectful of our space. When we arrived she gave us a tour of the place riding on her tractor, but otherwise she hung back and just let us do our thing. I appreciated being able to get lay of the land like that.

5. Linda went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. We had rain the entire time we were there, and she texted each morning to make sure we were okay after the thunderstorms. She also let us a birding book and made us coffee one morning, which was SO kind and appreciated after a night of thunderstorms! She also had piles of wood already set up for us to build fires with, including dry wood up at the house. That was super helpful too.

I can't recommend this camping spot enough. If you camp here, you will be supporting a genuinely kind person while enjoying beautiful East Texas pines. 10 out of 10 rating!

We really liked the mushroomsWe saw a dozen different colors of mushrooms There is a two mile loop around the lake at Daingerfield State ParkMore cool mushrooms :P

Upon arrival we were quickly greeted by our awesome host Linda, and she gave us a tour of her beautiful secluded property with multiple different campsites to choose from. The creek that runs through her property is beautiful, and is home to otters, frogs, and other wildlife. There are well maintained paths through the land leading to the campsites. Linda's backyard is filled with stunning flowers and trees, and we enjoyed exploring and seeing her amazing gardens. Our stay was a wonderful getaway from city life and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!

Linda was amazing!! I would absolutely stay here again. She has a private piece of land that is ideal for camping and has easy access to Daingerfield and Caddo Lake State Parks. She also has a love for all things nature and an appreciation for everyone else who does as well. I can't wait to go back...

It was amazing there. When we arrived she greeted us and showed us a tour of the campsites. We brought our two little ones and they had a blast playing in the creek and walking through the woods. The lady was so nice too us she offered to carrying our item from the campsite to our car when we were leaving. We will definitely be going back there.
