If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
My husband and I have considered giving this place a bad review just so that nobody else goes and we can have it to ourselves, but after reflection we’ve decided to be honest... it was GREAT!!
Our stay exceed every one of my expectations... it was FRANtastic!! The fire pit/ camping area overlooks the river, and we enjoyed the most beautiful sunrises on the dock. Fran made us feel incredibly welcome, as did her adorable lab Stella (who became instant besties with my pup and served as a dedicated tour guide throughout our stay). Firefly/Deep Water Vineyard is only minutes away (they had an oyster roast the weekend of our stay). We can’t wait to go back!
Beautiful waterfront location! My old Lab enjoyed walking out the long pier to the boat launch and deck and being able to spend some time off-leash. The host dog, Stella, enjoyed being our tour guide. This was a quick overnight stop for us but would be great to return with a group as there is a nice communal area with fire pit, tables, benches, lights strung through the trees, and a small movie screen—all just feet from the marshes.
This place is not just a campground, it is an escape from reality. The property is gorgeous and we enjoyed many peaceful moments out on the pier. Fran's hospitality coupled with the other campers' friendliness made us feel very welcomed. Words can't do this place justice. Ruby Ranch exceeded our greatest expectations!
Magical and special
Beautiful and very special spot. Frances provides an incredible community experience but could have easily stayed independent if desired. Our 16 foot airstream trailer parked perfectly on the lawn with amazing views of the marsh. Cannot wait to return!
Beautiful location and host
We had a great site, great host and great location! Oh and the weather was terrific, too. This was our first experience with Hipcamp and we will definitely participant again. Fran was so friendly without being intrusive. We were camped in her yard but it was sooo much better than being a campground. One look across the marsh and every worry just melted away. Fran, thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.
The directions should say “Tacky Point Rd” and “Ruby Ranch “. Otherwise we had no problem finding it. Fran could not have been more hospitable and welcoming. We stayed 3 nights in our travel trailer hooked up only to 15 amps, which was all we needed. We brought in a full tank of fresh water, though Fran offers hook up to a faucet.
Best bargain in 50 miles charleston
Its an unbelievable bargain. The view is easy the best have ever had with my RV, as you can park on the lawn and look over the marsh area. Very long dock to walk out over the marsh to an area where you can launch kayaks. Not a lot nearby, as you need to drive 6 miles for most things. There is walking nearby at the Fish Hatchery so do not miss that. The site can handle 15A service, and water hose input (like visiting the relatives). As long as you are self contained and can handle low power (read NO Air Conditioning allowed) you will be fine. Just watch your power on the extension cord to make sure you do not overheat connections. Internet reception was great from the cell tower with my AT&T hotspot, or with my VERIZON cellphone; aka plenty of bars. Good OTA reception for TV.
