Beautiful camping on the trask
Amazingly beautiful spot on the Trask River. Could not have asked for a better place to spend the 4th of July holiday. Private and secluded with great fishing at your doorstep. Bob and Carmen were great and everything was spotless and clean. Just as described. Would stay again in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact, already booked our next trip.
River, horses and cows, oh my.
Beautiful spot for a fire by the river. Cute little structure with a comfy bed. Fire pit area was perfect. We arrived late and Robert met us at the gate and then started up the fire for us. There is an outhouse with a toilet and a shower. Visiting with the cattle and horses in the morning was a treat. We felt like we lucked out in finding this place so last minute. I would definitely recommend.
Perfect site next to a river!
Simply perfect! The small touches and amenities that the hosts put together were lovely. Such as great tables and benches around the fire pit, propane starters to make the fires, a horseshoe game set up, a really nice cabin with kitchen as well as flowers on all the tables. There’s a shared out house (with one other site) that is very clean and even has a hot shower! The rushing river was the perfect backdrop to camp next to while we watched the comet and saw the stars at night! It was also incredibly fun to wake up next to Longhorn cattle and to see horses grazing nearby. We were able to kayak in a nearby lake and go to the air museum. The hosts were great- we highly recommend!
We were a group of 5 adults and 2 dogs with 3 vehicles, as one of the members in our party had to drive down later due to work obligations. When making our reservation, I noticed there was a 2 car maximum on the drop down menu for this campsite. I messaged the host to ask if we could possibly bring 3 vehicles and I got an immediate response accommodating this request.
Finding this property was a little challenging, as is mentioned in the listing. GPS will get you close to the location but make sure to follow the host's directions... We followed the provided directions but it should have said turn right rather than left. We arrived prior to sunset, which made figuring things out a bit easier than if it were already dark so keep this in mind.
Upon arrival, our host Bob met up with us to greet and show us around the campsite. He was very friendly and welcoming. We booked the cabin, which from the outside may look a bit shabby, but was nice on the inside. It was my friend's first time camping so it was ideal to have a cabin just in case she did not want to sleep outside in a tent. We set up two tents and had plenty of space. We ended up primarily using the cabin for storage.
The toilet and shower area was clean. It was great to have access to hot water. The only downside was that some water pooled right in front of the toilet, which made using it a bit tricky if you did not want to get your feet wet.
On this property there are two campsites. The night we stayed another couple and their dog were staying at the neighboring site. The distance between the sites are pretty good and although we could see them, we did not hear them. We just had to share the toilet and shower area but this was not a problem at all.
Our stay was fantastic. I am originally from Hawai'i and have never really seen a clearer sky since moving to the mainland. The sound of the running water from the creek/stream was tranquil. Our group made a campfire (Bob and Carmen provided us with ample wood) and talked story all night. I would not say this was true camping but our entire party really enjoyed this place. We felt very comfortable, safe, and had a great experience. I would recommend this campsite to others.
So fun to camp among the animals. The hosts are both very welcoming and wonderful. It felt clean which is so important right now. We wish we could have spent more time there and hung out in the river.
Calm, quiet, river sounds to sleep
We loved camping at Robert and Carmen's property! Our dogs loved the "right at your site", which we did as well. Clean, fresh flowers on the picnic table, firewood and starter. A clean natural HOT shower! Longhorns, horses. Relaxing, wanting for nothing, away from the world. We did reserve the cabin and the campsite to have privacy, as the 2 sites are right next to each other. Hosts are amazing, truly.
