This property was purchased in 2010 as the site of a pollinator and wildlife sanctuary, as well as an organic berry farm. It consists of 28 acres that back up onto the Siuslaw National Forest. The Yachats River flows right through the property, and meets the School Fork Creek just downstream from us. We try to live in a way that impacts the land as minimally as possible, and we ask all who visit to approach the land with the same care and respect. Historically, this valley was the home of the Yachats tribe, who farmed the upstream meadows and lived off the rich food diversity provided by the land: berries, mushrooms, elk, deer, salmon, and abundant wild forest foods of all kinds. The Yachats were wiped out by disease before the White settlers even reached the area. One of our missions is to help restore the original diversity of the land, both by planting forage for pollinators, and stewarding the local flora and fauna of the area to bring the land back into balance after the many years of logging and cattle ranching.

Maple Meadow Camp
Great spot in a beautiful area. The old camper is quaint but be aware that the shower/bath that you would usually find in these trailers is not working. There is a composting toilet in a shed overlooking the river, which is just as great, and an outside shower. We enjoyed a great fireside chat with the hosts and grilled hotdogs and smores over the bonfire. The proximity to the dunes and beaches around Yachats makes it a great getaway. Would happily return.
