This 55 acre park is home of a large sandstone that contains 8 markings believed to have been made by Vikings many years ago. The park features a seasonal waterfall, covered picnic areas, playground, amphitheater with seating, community building, scenic views, gift shop and approximately 2 miles of nature trails. Be advised that most tent sites have a tent pad but a few are primitive. The RV sites are not typical with limited hook-ups and no dump station. Restroom and shower facilities are located within the park. Forest setting while still close to stores in case of forgotten items but the gift shop is stocked with camping supplies, as well. Variety of small wildlife in the area. All sites allow campfires UNLESS we are under a county wide burn ban. *Note moderate cancellation policy for most dates - full refund 3 days before check-in time. April 5 - 11, 2024 there is a strict cancellation policy - full refund within 30 days of check-in.

#10 - Upper Camp Loop

We loved the secludedness of the upper loop camp! The trek up was steep but worth it. There weren't many (if any) campers and I was shocked considering how great the place is. The nature trail was beautiful also! If I could change one thing, it would be to have the bathrooms a little closer.

#9 - Overlook view

Beautiful view of the West side! It's mostly private. Great for a small party. No level surface for tent besides the driveway. Great place for a tent hammock. The hosts are nice and very attentive. Fire wood and ice are available at a fair price. Picnic table , grill, shepards hook and fire pit were very handy. Probably one of the better sunsets I have seen.

#7 - Tent Site

Nice unexpected stop for the night

Worked out well for me as a to pull off in the rain after 2 days and 3 nights of rain, for a safe, legal, and mostly flat spot to park the camper van overnight. It was very quiet, Hipcamp allowed me to make a reservation right there on the spot, but I was supposed to check in earlier in the evening, no problem, met the camp hosts the next morning. Restroom nice enough, but water rusty. Tent sites a little hard to see in the evening with signs in the trees! Otherwise a beautiful place and a fun short hike to see the runestone.
