Indigo Eagle Sanctuary is an incredible place to experience the abundance of nature in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our Sanctuary features two main areas: Mountain Tops, or Creekside sites. Immerse yourself in beauty and adventure, with waterfalls, a rushing creek, fishing, and camping. Our creek properties include the Creekside Cabin, and Waterfall Haven (multiple camping site options, with their own areas by the creek). Guests have room to explore the mossy wonderland along Hornbuckle Creek, take a dip in a swimming hole, take an adventure and follow a rough trail (at your own risk) to another waterfall, accessed across the creek, or just kick back and relax. (Note to guests: Trail has not been maintained since last year. Go at your own risk.) Our mountaintop options include Eagle’s Nest and Songbird Campsites. These two sites provide breathtaking, long-range mountain views and epic sunsets. They are great for quick get-aways, with ease of access to main roads/highways. Indigo Eagle Sanctuary Sites are located within a few miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Reservation (museum, shops, dining) and Maggie Valley, a quaint mountain town with more shops, food, and entertainment. Nearest grocery stores are Ingles in Waynesville, or Food Lion in Cherokee. The popular Asheville is about a 50minute drive from our Sanctuary. Plenty to explore here, while being able to unplug and unwind.

Waterfall Haven Campsite 12
We stayed at campsite 12 and it was beautiful! The creek that runs through is amazing and great for us who need a little white noise to sleep! We hiked up to the waterfall which was also a site to see! We had the whole campsite to ourselves so it was very quiet. We loved being disconnected from our phones as well! The only problem was im assuming it was the neighbors riding up and down the road right next to our campsite all throughout the night/early AM and gunshots being fired throughout the night/early AM as well. The area seemed like it needed a little TLC as well but all and all it was amazing and we definitely recommend campsite 12. I wouldnt recommend it as a solo campers area since you are completely disconnected.

Eagles Nest Top Mountain View #2
This was an incredibly beautiful spot. The host was courteous and available by phone but stayed to himself. Most gorgeous Blue Ridge views and felt safe for two women campers.

Eagles Nest Top Mountain View #2
Amazing view and easy to find. I will say that a 4x4 is definitely required. First, signs posted along the road say so. Second, the driveway on the way to the camp site is a little steep but it isn't that bad, yet will be much easier with 4x4. We'll worth the trip, especially for the views of the mountains and would love to go back one day!

Waterfall Haven Campsite 12
Nice short walk to the waterfall.
We loved that this camping location was tucked away quite a bit into the mountains and the road went along with the rushing river. Everything had signs leading to the campsite which was very helpful. The campsite we went to had plenty of room to set up camp. Our site was right next to the river like most of the sites. The waterfall was a short walk away from our site. And the instructions to the campsite were very helpful in detailed. I agree with the instructions when it says you will need four-wheel drive and high clearance. Make sure to bring plenty of firewood.
