The Shack was AWESOME! This little oasis is perfect to get away and enjoy nature. It is perfectly located close to hiking and truly in the heart of the Catskills. We were greeted with fresh milk and eggs from the host's dairy farm, so delicious and a very thoughtful touch! Jan was a great host and very kind. If you are looking for campfires under the stars, gorgeous views, and a good night's rest, this is the place for you.

We had a great time and Jan was a great host! The views were amazing and we were very warm in the Shack even though it was a colder night. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back again!
We loved our stay at The Shack. We had everything we needed in a beautiful and quiet location. Jan gave us farm fresh milk and eggs which was a real treat! The home was very clean. We pitched a tent in the yard and slept outside as the weather was beautiful. We woke to birds chirping and deer roaming the fields. A great getaway. Thank you, Jan and family!!
Wonderful little cabin with all you need. The flattop grill is a highlight and the eggs/milk delivered in the morning are fantastic. Beautiful view from the porch with one of a kind sunsets and there was an active breeze that kept it cool for the whole stay. It is an active hayfield but watching them cut and bale the hay was meditative and fun.
I loved staying up on the hill at The Shack for a weekend. The first evening I was treated to a gorgeous sunset, and happened to spy four deer hanging out under the pink puffy clouds. Each night I had fun cooking my dinner over the fire pit grill, and as it got dark fireflies came out and the stargazing was fantastic. I happened to be there on a night when a comet was visible, a truly rare experience. The cabin has everything you need, with plenty of outlets if you need to charge a device, a fridge stocked with fresh farm milk and eggs (thank you Jan!), running water, shower, Keurig coffee, an outdoor propane grill and a comfortable loft bed. The site is truly secluded, and the views are really something special. It's within an hour drive to Kaaterskill Falls, Glimmerglass State Park, Ommegang Brewery, Mine Kill State Park, and plenty of other great hiking spots and outdoor activities. I enjoyed exploring the area and would definitely stay there again.

Had a great time celebrating a birthday with our two young boys. We used the shack as home base and camped in the field. It was quiet and safe and surrounded by farms. A perfect family getaway for camping away from a campground. Jan was welcoming and friendly.

Jan was a great host! My friend and I enjoyed how peaceful and incredibly beautiful it was. The shack was charming and the perfect size too! We would absolutely love to go back.

I loved my stay at The Shack. Came to get away from the city for a few days and just have a quiet space to do yoga, listen to some podcasts, and just relax and enjoy nature. The Shack delivered on all fronts.
The first night there was a storm but it was beautiful to watch the lightning in the distance from atop the hill and the cabin provided adequate shelter. It was amazing to fall asleep to the rain plinking off the tin roof.
I love that I was able to drive right up to the cabin. This allows you to keep extra stuff in your car and not be stressed that it’s far away. I would say make sure you bring food. The closet places to get something is 15 mins away, and even though that isn’t that the worst, a lot of the places were closed and the only little supermarket had a bit of a complicated ordering system. So bring food, the gas grill provides great cooking options.
Doing yoga right on the edge of the hill over looking the valley was the best (have bug spray handy). Amazing view, great breeze, sunset was incredible. Fire pit was a great addition too, just bring some fire starters and maybe some newspaper to get it going. Also the shower was surprisingly nice for a cabin shower.
Thanks Jan for having such an awesome place available for others to enjoy. Hope to come back one day!
