What a beautiful place!! This campground is amazing. A private spot next to a beautiful river, what else do you need?
Our host James and Linda were so nice! They were really helpful and interested and even made us a wooden table when they saw that we had our own chairs with us. We have had nice conversations and at the same time they respected our privacy. Would recommend it to everyone. Thanks again Linda and James!
This place is awesome!! Great views and James was super accommodating. The site is close to Bolton Landing so it was nice to be able to go into town and get groceries or just a bite to eat. Would highly recommend!
Amazing piece of property that is definitely a hidden gem! Not too far from all the local attractions, yet away from the crowd. Very friendly and helpful hosts. We camped in mid August and there was a good amount of mosquitos, but once you spray yourself with bugspray and keep them out of your tent, it wasn't that bad. Definitely will be back!
such an awesome place to stay! we were fortunate enough to be the only ones camping there for the weekend - the hosts have everything you could possibly need and are so friendly. we had great conversations, and they suggested things to do in the area. the site is beautiful and makes for some great sunset views! we will definitely book again if we are back in the area.
Peaceful dog friendly get away
This was our first Hipcamp experience and James made sure it far exceeded our expectations. Their property is beautiful, level, private, smells like the wild thyme that grows, and has beautiful views of sunsets. Our golden retriever LOVED playing in the river below. James gave us great insight to the area as far as where to eat, shop, and experience more than just the typical tourist spots. We will be returning and bringing friends!
Beautiful wooded spot for a family
Our stay at Transparent Sands was our best HipCamp experience yet. James goes above and beyond when it comes to the amenities included on the property and being such a welcoming host. We chose the wooded site and could not have been happier. Lots of room to spread out your campsite with great trees for a hammock, a beautiful fire pit and access to the river to fish and play. A beautiful handmade picnic table made by James was perfect for dinner time and also some LEGO play in the morning while coffee water was heating up. Our son was excited to find some frogs not only at the campsite but also at the river as well as some baby catfish hiding in the mud. The wooded site is listed as the furthest from the bathroom (outdoor hot water shower included!) but in reality is closer than bathrooms at State Parks we’ve stayed at so don’t let that deter you. We absolutely loved our stay and would love to stay again next year!
We had a lovely stay above the river for two nights this weekend. We were the only folks there, which was lovely and the weather was absolutely perfect for the end of September! We had amazing stargazing views and enjoyed exploring both Lake George and Bolton Landing.
While the river was a little low this time around, it would be a lovely spot to canoe or kayak as well!
There is a brand new outdoor shower with on-demand hot water and plenty of firewood to burn for $10. The porta-potty bathroom was spotlessly clean and very close to all the campsites. Though there is a giant RV campground right next door, we didn't hear any noise from them at all, which was great. As mentioned in other reviews, the highways are a little noisy, but since they're constant, it's more a white noise effect than an annoyance.
Since the campsites are so close to the water, a must-have is bug spray. Even towards the end of September, they were oot and aboot, but nothing a few spritzes didn't solve!
I'd definitely stay here again! :)
