Pitch your tent (or two or three!) on this 12' x 24' platform in a small clearing in the woods overlooking a stream. The stream is a short walk down a marked path and has a small bathing pool that is great for a refreshingly crisp bath.
Though not far off the road, there is very little car traffic, and the surroundings are very peaceful. The din of the running stream is a constant, while the sounds of coyotes and owls can be heard at night.
There is a spring-fed 15 gallon reservoir of potable water that will slowly refill.
The Beer Diviner small-scale brewery and taproom is a stone's throw away from the parking area with a selection of tasty beer and some food options available. In addition to regular hours, there are special summer events, and live music every Saturday night.
Cherry Plain State Park is a 'less-traveled' state park and campground just 3.5 miles up the road, offering lake swimming, boating, hiking and mountain bike trails
Other nearby outdoor attractions include: The Taconic Crest Trail, Jiminy Peak Resort, Hancock Shaker Village, and Mt. Greylock.

The vibe at The Forest Platform
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Very private spot. Ample amount of fire wood on hand. Plenty of seating. Walk from parking to platform site is steep. Especially when bringing a wheelbarrow full of supplies to camp. Outhouse is quite far from platform for renting. Very wet area but was exactly what we were looking for. Will return for sure.
Pete and I had a lovely stay at Andrew & Victoria's Moonrise Forest Camp. They were super responsive when we had questions, and the site was quiet and lovely. We went to sleep with the sound of the stream gurgling down below. We also heard the coyotes howling in the middle of the night, which was super cool. We don't hear much of that in NYC! Other pluses were the composting toilet, potable water, and the fantastic brewery in the middle of nowhere--literally a stone's throw away from the campground! We highly recommend this spot, and are certain we'll be back again!
