White Sulfur Springs Artist retreat is 90 minutes northwest of New York City in the beautiful Catskill Mountain Region of Upstate New York. The retreat is within a 10 minute drive to the incredible Peekamoose hiking trails and waterfalls as well as the Neversink Reservoir swimming area. The retreat has a cabin, large glamping tent, a stage that can be used either as a covered sleeping area or a place to make art. The kitchen/porch area, made completely with re-purposed windows and shipping crates, is an oasis in the woods, a wonderful place to sit by the fire, stay warm and cook (if you so desire). There are also other places on the property where campers can escape and make their own fire.
Unlike more densely settled, gentrified areas outside the city, such as the Hudson River Valley or the Hamptons, this corner of Sullivan County feels lost in time, a cluster of tiny hamlets (like Rosco, world famous for its fly fishing) that follow the twists and turns of the Delaware River.
On the western edge of Sullivan County is the town of Jeffersonville, a place where you can find antiques and all sorts of oddities that feel like treasures lost in time. The towns of Livingston Manor and Callicoon, each less than 20 miles from one another, are attracting artists and entrepreneurs who are transforming these sleepy towns.
During the winter the Catskill Mountains are transformed into a winter oasis where snow skiing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling take center stage.

The host was great, gave a lot of super useful and necessary information. The cabin itself was super cute and comfy. I loved the comfort of having electricity, running water, and a gas grill. My only desire would've been for more privacy. The site and amenities are shared with a tent site only 30 feet or so away.
Really unique and charming spot. Incredibly nice and welcoming hosts. Would highly recommend.

We had a great time at the artists' retreat in White Sulphur Springs. The property was easy to find according to the directions given, and such a lovely spot. The mood there is friendly and playful (twinkling Christmas lights strung over the cabins, a swing secured between trees, watergun atop the mailbox), but there is plenty of space for quiet and solitude-- it was a perfect getaway. We booked at the last minute and the host was super accommodating, and even had a fresh bunch of wildflowers in a jar outside the cabin to greet us. We stayed in the cabin, and the bed was SO comfortable to sleep on (but if you prefer more outdoorsy experience there is a tent platform set up on the site as well). All in all it was perfect for us and we will be bookmarking the site to try to come back next time we're able!
We had a nice time at Afsana's retreat. As other reviewers have mentioned, the space is charmingly decorated. We appreciated the comfy bed, the gas grill, and the area up the hill in the back of the property - where we had a great night of stargazing in the clear sky. That being said, there were some significant issues with cleanliness of the cabin and kitchen area which disappointed us. The interior of the cabin looked as if someone had just left 5 minutes ago - clothes tangled in used sheets, a dirty towel, food and utensils on the floor/table. The minifridge in the kitchen building with full of expired meat and open bottles of wine. Additionally, we felt a bit misled by the hipcamp listing as there was not an outhouse nor any waste disposal bins at the property at the time of our stay.

Dear Gavin, I regret that campsite was in disarray :( Unfortunately I did not get a chance to get up there and see it before your arrival. It's a shame. I'm working to rectify these issues. Your feedback is important. Please let us make it up to you with a free nights stay. Sincerely, Afsana
