Our property and profile are in constant change as we are in a stage of development, but we look to share our land with those looking to enjoy a warm, welcome environment for those fellow wanderers, outdoor enthusiasts, vagabonds, and globetrotters! I am a well-traveled backpacker myself and share 5 1/2 acres with my father here in a bustling little touristy town. We enjoy the company of those who endorse small footprint, sustainable practices and I eventually intend to create an eco-hostel from the conversion of our 100 year old barn!  All we ask is that you respect the property, our neighbors, and make an effort to add one more new friend before you depart!

We really enjoyed our stay at Logan’s sanctuary. It’s a gorgeous piece of land, kept in pristine condition, and had all the amenities we needed! Logan and his dad were such nice people and we even got to know each other around the campfire that night. Would definitely come back and would love to spend time in the awesome barn Logan is working on right now!

What a wonderful couple to host as our first HipCampers! John thank you for choosing our place and leaving a positive review! We aim to host many more in the future and it is guests like you who make this all possible! A wonderful story you two share in your quest to come Stateside and it is not lost on me that I will highly consider taking the same route with Ange in bringing her north to Minnesota...all in due time! Peace.

Dude! Logan is awesome, the space is nice and open. I’d describe it as like halfway country, you still have neighbors and you’re still relatively close to town, but it has the open air feel! Huge bonus is free firewood! Logan’s got big plans for the place and for his second visitor I’d say he’s already a pro!

Thanks Jacob for the fantastic review! It was an honor to host you as well and to have the opportunity to engage with you to an extent around the campfire. Best wishes to you as you make your way westward and embark on a fresh start! If you ever make your way through MN again you will have a welcoming post ready to serve 🤙🏽

Happy to have hosted Josh as he was passing through MN. We had the opportunity to chat around a small fire before calling it a night which is always appreciated! I respect the time you gave me before needing your rest for the next leg of your journey, you are welcome to stay again anytime! Best wishes to you.

There is so much to love about this experience. I am honored to be the fourth guest and the first long-term (six nights) camper at Tumbleweed Base Camp. Logan and his father, David, have created a beautiful place of welcome, peacefulness, and rejuvenation. I appreciate all that Logan and David did to extend hospitality and make this feel like home over 7 days.

Their land includes woods surrounding an idyllic campsite. Wild turkeys are seen daily, with 14 being the most I counted at a time. David invited me to sample the strawberries he's growing. Logan prepared a fire on my first night and I got to learn about his vision for this location, and he's already well on his way, capturing the heart and spirit of Hipcamp.

The campsites are down the hill from the family home. Water drainage is effective and I had no issues even with three nights of steady rain.

I stayed here, during these days of COVID-19, in order to practice social distancing with older family members. It's where I plan to stay from now on whenever I'm in the area.

I cannot speak highly enough of this experience! Thank you, Logan and David!

P.S. Local recommendation: Mi Cartengenta Cafe for delicious pastries & Columbian coffee. Bring a good book or journal and plan to sit on the deck facing Detroit Lake.

Christopher, our first Hipcamper to stay for an extended period of time! (6 nights) We were honored to host Christopher as he was up visiting family in a nearby town and needed a quiet getaway to soak in the peace and nature that our humble property provides. We were lucky to share some time around a fire and engage about the progression of the Hipcamp experience in addition becoming friends through this welcoming platform. Christopher was a wonderful guest, easy to please, respectful, and also contributed some thoughtful ideas to enhance the experience for future guests. I look forward to our next chance to offer up some space as he would certainly be welcome anytime!

Logan was a great host, very welcoming and great conversationalist. Although still early in it's development, his place has so much potential in the future and his plans for the hostel are really cool. I'll be excited to come back and see the progress he's made on the barn!
