Inside the cabin is a kitchen counter, a dining table with two camp chairs, and a futon couch that is also a bed. The cabin is a work in progress, so it changes every year! There is a picnic table outside next to cabin. The Yellow Dog River is close by and provides swimming and fishing opportunities.

10/10 would stay again
What an amazing experience! Came for a getaway weekend with the boys and it did not disappoint. You can't even put into words or pictures how beautiful her property is and how kind of a person she is at heart. I can't wait till next summer because all i want to do is come back with my wife.
Magical and peaceful stay
The sunset cabin was wonderful and so was Sue! She gave me guidance for hikes, made sure I was ready to go with kayaking, and answered any questions I had, and was genuinely one of the best hosts I’ve had.
The cabin is just as described: a work in progress, but exactly what I needed. It was cozy inside and all the windows had screens so sleeping was easy, cool, and peaceful! I put my sleeping pad on top of the futon mattress for a little added cushion and slept very well. There were tapestries inside and a small lantern as well: perfect.
The outhouse was clean but loved and didn’t have a door- it looked out into private wooded areas (great for covid safety, and very nice!) I also liked the screened in food prep: it was nice to be able to cook outside without swatting at bugs.
I loved my stay and you will too!
We were only sorry we couldn't stay longer! We loved sitting out in front of the cabin and watching sunsets across the lake (and one very wild thunderstorm from the comfort of a nice dry cabin!) It was wild, private, and absolutely gorgeous. It was especially nice to have the use of Susan's kayak to paddle on tiny Bear Lake during the water lily blooming; we were sorry we didn't have time to try out the canoe! The public areas Susan and her partner have set up for camp cooking, bathing by the river, and the shared fire pit were well tended; we appreciated that we didn't have to gather and cut our own wood. Susan went to the extra effort of showing us around her property and even surprised us with fresh flowers and a puzzle in the cabin! (We are used to backpacking with a tiny tent, so this all was very luxurious from our perspective.)
Beautiful, peaceful, serene
A really really beautiful property and space. Susan is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the space felt open and peaceful. The cabin feels very private, as it is a ways from the rest of the property- you can't see anyone else from it. This is a great option if you want the "camping experience" without the aspect and inconveniences of setting up a tent/tarp/dealing with bugs/etc. We were looking to camp, but the camp site on Susan's property was booked for the first 3 days of our trip, so we spent 3 days in the cabin and then moved down to the tent site.
Keep in mind that this is currently just a shelter (there is no electricity). Susan did provide a small LED light, but I would recommend bringing a lantern of your own. We had a Coleman gas lantern, and we were very happy to have the extra light to read by/get ready for bed in the dark.
All in all, this is an excellent option for someone who wants the camping experience without the sleeping on the ground bit (or if you don't want to deal rain and mosquitoes as much!), though I personally enjoyed staying down at the tent site more, mostly for the value.
Make SURE you take Sue's canoe/kayak out on Bear Lake while you're there. We went out nearly every day.. It's heavenly. Would definitely recommend this stay!
Beautiful, quiet spot to rest
My husband and I and our dogs had a lovely time at the Bear Lake Sunset Cabin. We didn't want to go home! It was a great spot for a base camp as we spent a lot of time hiking in the surrounding area. Sue was a gracious host, and the property is beautiful with a lot of whimsical touches. We really enjoyed coming back from a day of hiking and jumping in the cool, clean river. The sunsets were amazing, with a great view over the lake out of the front of the cabin. What a great spot for a retreat away from the fast pace of the day to day.
This was one of those places where the photo on the website did not do the actual view justice! We hung our hammock in front of the cabin and soaked in the spectacular view of the lake for hours. This is a peaceful, friendly place to retreat from whatever you need to retreat from. :) Everything was exactly as described. The futon is very comfortable and all amenities were very convenient. Susan is a beautiful person and showed us around the property offering to help with anything we needed. She directed us to a spectacular hike - one of many nearby. Perfect!
