Although you'll find this spot to yourself and privacy there away from other sites, you will need to park adjacent to my house to access the site. Here you'll have easy water refills (just ask!) and a plug on my porch for device charging. Pls note we are social distancing here! When you arrive, I'm happy to meet and greet you & give you a quick tour. Here you'll have the security of an on-site host & anything you may have forgotten I'll likely have on-hand to give/lend.
We love welcoming people to our property and are happy to answer any questions about the area. We have 2 free roaming cats who call our place home so we don’t allow other animals at this site but hope you will love meeting the fur family when and if they roam over (or follow you) to your site. We look forward to meeting new people and making new friends.
Site is in the woods on my land near my home and does not allow fires, it's on an oceanfront hillside, beach access is a short hike on a trail :) Site will afford peaceful tranquility dusk til dawn or quiet hours 10pm-8am.
Our goal with Hipcamp is to provide a place for seekers of peace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us.
Our top priorities with our Hip Camp is keeping this land pristine and respected. Our mission to save our environment can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of YOU! We are here to prove that people can change and that an alternative to traditional campgrounds can be of an extremely magical benefit that does not degrade the environment and break the peace that small towns still contain.
Pack-in pack-out leave-no-trace piece of land; there are no trash bins, facilities or dumpsters, you must take your trash with you. There will be a portopotty on site a short walk away.
- Land is simply just that & rustic, to replicate a backcountry tent camping experience.
- Fire: If having a fire is a necessity (I get it!) please inquire about using my firepit, or instead book one of our other sites which all allow fires. I have kayaks for rent on site to explore Frenchman's bay. Pls inq if you want to borrow chairs. Byo camp stove or jetboil for cooking or heating food.
- Enough level ground and space for a 4 person tent. 2-3 people at this site only as it is a much cozier smaller site. This is the smallest site here out of four, best suited to short term camping, ideal for getting out and exploring the area by day, not for hunkering down. Great spots to hang a hammock, forest of trees with good spacing, and just relax.
- Wifi is only accessible near the main house. Not in the woods or at your site. Though service throughout the park is spotty Taft Point has strong cell service on all carriers, I get a signal that outperforms the antiquated DSL, is our best option in this area.
- Pls note site is a short walk from parking into through the woods or onto the lawn. If you have any physical disabilities we are happy to help transport your gear to the site. If you wish to instead car camp closer to the house, your site will be less private and won't have an ocean view.
Located ~30 minutes from the city of Ellsworth, 15 minutes from the town of Winter Harbor, 15 min from the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park, and 40 minutes from Acadia on Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor via the Mud Creek Rd.
Winter weather/snow: experienced campers, winter weather enthusiasts, xc skii and showshoers welcomed. If there's snow on the ground or in the forecast, AWD is strongly advised. If you have any reservations as to the feasibility of your vehicle on our dirt road, please reach out to host or simply cancel. Sometimes we get snow, sometimes we don't. Sometimes the plow guy comes, sometimes we have to wait. Please note that at this site you will fairly exposed to eastward facing winds. If another more protected site on my land is available please book that instead, if it happens to be free during your booking we'll divert you there instead. In case of emergency or stuck vehicle you are responsible for tow, we have extra shovels and a Jeep to give you a tug to first attempt to get unstuck. Flexible cancellation and refunds granted for guests unprepared for heavy snowfall and rescheduling available.

This was our our first HipCamp experience and it will be hard to beat!
Camping on Lily’s property was so private and peaceful, it was our favorite experience about our entire visit to Acadia- it made our trip complete.
We actually didn’t want to leave our campsite at all but had do do some “site-seeing” adventures, (which were beautiful!) but in the end, Lily’s property was the icing on the cake for or first Maine visit and we were so happy to have found it!
She was super kind and welcoming , talked a lot about some local hot spots - since we are not into the tourist thing.
Highly recommended ❤️

Lily’s Hipcamp sites are well placed, clean and private. Lily is a wonderfully genial host who is concerned for her guests’ comfort and safety. We enjoyed our stay and will recommend Lily’s to fellow travelers.
Our only concerns were with Hipcamp itself—the online portal is flaky at best. Our communications to and from Lily were delayed causing confusion and misunderstanding. Hipcamp has NO customer service to speak of other than email which is useless when you need immediate help. I wonder what a guest or host would do in a real emergency situation.
This was our first experience with hipcamp and it exceeded all expectations! Lily's property is gorgeous and she is a very kind and helpful host. We could watch the sunset over the water from our tent, and had access to a basically empty beach.
Wow! Lily’s property is amazing. Well worth the price for the location and privacy.
Such a lovely place to stay after a day of cycling (bike tour). Very quiet for much needed rest.
You can tell Lily has a passion for people. She welcomed us in with open arms!!
Absolutely magical. Lily is the best. What a wonderful way to experience Maine.
Absolutely loved our stay with Lily! I wish I would have taken pictures to share the glory! So many birds to watch and hear if your into birding. Our site was cleared and private on the top of a hill over looking the ocean with a beautiful view of the sunset. There's hiking trails which we enjoyed at dusk giving a nice fall feel and the beach is also only a small trek away. Lily was very accommodating with all of our needs and even had cute lil land kitties roaming about looking for love. I HIGHLY recommend this stay if your an outdoor enthusiast!

Thank you Lindsey for coming it was a pleasure meeting you!
Very beautiful property, amazing view of the bay, a great and accommodating host!
You'll have an easier time if you don't arrive at night but even so everything was great and Lily was helpful when we did!
Lily's Sunset View Happy Tent Campsite was a great way to experience Maine and the Acadia National Park area. A quick drive to Schoodic Peninsula and Mount Desert Island, it is a great alternative for those who don't want to camp in the park or stay in Bar Harbor. Located on Mount Desert Narrows, you have access to Taft Point Preserve and the Frenchman Bay Conservancy, offering a secluded piece of beachfront, great for sunsets and tranquility.

This place is absolute magic. I will be back as soon as I can. Lily is a wonderful host. And I don’t think I’ll attempt to stay anywhere else in Maine. Truly everything about this place is wonderful. The views are better than in the national park and the sunsets are perfect. Loved every second of our time here.
