This is part of the Mousam River Valley in Springvale, York County, Maine. The Mousam River flows through the area and there is access from many spots along the rail-trail where the campsite is located. The former Boston-Portland railway was converted to a maintained rail-trail for biking, hiking, and recreational use.
Springvale is a smaller village within the city of Sanford. Sanford was one of the original areas that were colonized from the Massachusetts Bay Colony and was originally called Phillipstown when it was founded.

The campsite is nestled among historic southern Maine forestland along the former Boston-Acton Railway that was later converted to a rail-trail. The site is 4 acres of rustic main forest with roughed in trails, level tent sites, and fire ring. The woodlot is a one mile hike to our main residence with full facilities available. There is a parking/drop off site that is 1/2 mile from the campsite.
