2020:  Thank you to everyone who visited in 2019!  I am truly grateful for all of the awesome people I last year.  This year I am looking forward to accommodating you with a few changes.  The sites are adequately spaced apart to accommodate COVID-19 protocol.  There is a shared porta-potty between the two campsites.  In the event that both campsites are occupied I ask that you use the disinfectant wipes along with the provided gloves to wipe the door handle before entering and wipe the surface before use of the facility.  Please stay 6 feet away from the other campers as much as possible.  The unit will be cleaned in between campers and at random intervals.  Also, please bring charcoal briquettes for the grill provided if you don't want to cook over the fire. **Please dispose of your trash in the large bin at the end of my driveway and replace with a new liner (the extra bags are in the porta potty) before leaving your campsite.**  Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy your stay.

Come pitch your large tent on this newly built tent platform (12 x 12) **Rustic** and enjoy the sound and smells of the ocean and close proximity to Acadia National park.

Bar Harbor is a 20 minute drive from the camp site.

The campsite is right off a  gravel road off of a corner of my 1 acre lot tucked into the edge of the trees.  Swimming nearby includes Echo Lake Beach and Long Pond Beach.

*amenities include electric hookup, water, wifi (text me for the password), and a porta potty. I have provided 2 camp chairs.  If you have more than 1 vehicle you may need to park in my driveway in the spot on the right side of the house (green ranch).

You may hear my parrot, Josie calling from my house when she is happy or my chickens clucking from their hen house.  Please let me know if you need anything additional and I will try to accommodate you.  I usually leave campers to their solitude, but don't hesitate to let me know if you would feel more comfortable with meeting me. ***Please make sure you read the guest reviews before you book.**

Site is located right off of (on) a private, mildly traveled dirt road. It is spaced out by ~50ft from the other site. So, not exactly the typical feel of camping in the woods, but very quiet at night and you can in fact hear the waves breaking on. the shore at night being so close to the ocean. Very relaxing. Host is responsive. She has run a hose and electrical cord out to the site, but don't plan on being able to use the WiFi from your site. I'm glad it didn't rain, as I have the type of tent that needs to be staked down in many ways to really be taunt enough to be rain-resistant. Site could really benefit from ~$10 of hardware to install some sort of tie-downs along the sides of the raised wooden tenting site. The camping supply store around the corner (with hot showers) has signs indicating it is closed for the season due to COVID. Overall, would recommend, especially with in-park options currently limited due to COVID, and it's nice to get away from bar harbor and check out the southwest part of the island!

The site was in a great location, and it was really nice staying in this area where we might not have adventured to had we stayed in Bar Harbor. The site itself is on a road, though in a very low-trafficked neighborhood. There is no grass upon which to pitch a tent (the gravel ground was hard and sloped), but the tent platform was nice. Had it been windy, this would not have worked for us, as the platform did not appear to have any screws or tie downs in place. Waking up to the sounds of the MDI birds was lovely. The site also had great amenities including a table, chairs, hose and fire pit.

Great campsite, perfect for access to greater Acadia area! Easy check-in and beautiful surroundings. Only 5 minute drive from Seawall Beach picnic area. Will stay again, thanks Nancy!

Super grateful for this spot! The directions to finding it upon arrival could be updated a bit, and the water definitely wasn’t drinkable for our stay... But otherwise everything was great and just as described in the listing! Fantastic location, walking distance from the Sea Wall. We loved hearing the water at night!

I’m usually backpacking, so I loved this little camp site. It was everything we needed it to be. Didn’t expect chairs there for us, and the water was easy to use, so that was nice. Nancy was responsive and had all of the information we needed. Thank you!

We had a great stay at the camp site! Nancy brought camping chairs and a table, set up a hose for a shower, and there were solar lights at night that gave a nice ambiance. The outhouse was also clean and there was plenty of hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes. We also enjoyed the short walk from the site to Seawall.

The Balsam Way Campsite was great. If with 6 people in your group, I would recommend bringing smaller backpacking sized tents, because it is a smaller sized site with no frills, but for the location and cost you can't beat it.
