Wow...what a weekend retreat! A secluded, tree-lined drive was the perfect introduction to our first visit to MoonLight Grove Farm. The property is bordered by farm fields and the Ohio River giving us ample opportunities to bird watch with sightings ranging from Indigo Buntings, to Green Herons, to a nest of Bald Eagles. Susan and Larry were gracious hosts and ensured that we got settled into our spot. Little touches like a fire pit stocked with wood for evening fires and fresh eggs from their free-range chickens made the experience even more special. We definitely will book again!
Amazing campsite and amazing hosts. We felt so safe and welcomed. Our hosts were so accommodating and even gave us fresh eggs from their chickens. The campsite was quiet and very private. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The stars were so bright
If your looking for a place within an hour or so from Louisville ky that you can get away and relax and just stare up at the sky at night then they have nailed it. They were extreamly friendly. We didnt get in till almost 10pm but they were up and allready had a fire going.
The only thing i feel should be a warning is to those who want to sleep till 10 am. You might not have that chance. This is a working farm and the rooster crows at dawn. The next time we stay to camp in Louisville area we know exactly where we are going
MoonLight Grove Farm was amazing! This was our third Hipcamp stay and was by far our favorite. The camping site near the river was perfect for us to spread out with all of our hammocks, sleeping tent, food tent, chairs, campfire, etc. There were goats, chickens, donkeys, cows, cats, and dogs that my kids (ok me too) could visit. There was a small beach area right on the river. The only slight negative was the noise from the barges overnight - but you could look at it as just part of the experience being on the Ohio. Susan and Larry were wonderful hosts and we look forward to coming back again!
This was one of the best camping experiences that we have had. our hosts were gracious and kind, allowed for plenty of privacy, yes we're available if we needed them at a moment's notice. We also had the pleasure of the company of two of their canine companions, one of which served as our unofficial host and guide for the weekend. we would highly recommend this campground to anyone who's looking for beautiful space and great hospitality. How's that sound
MoonLight Grove Farm was absolutely stunning. The property was quiet, safe, and very charming. Susan gave great instructions on how to reach the property and was very kind upon our arrival even though we got in at 10pm. I wish we could have stayed longer! Would absolutely recommend.
There really is a “moonlight grove”
Susan and Larry have put together the perfect camping adventure: privacy, hospitality/service, submersive farm experience, genuine personalities, and objectively beautiful surroundings. We’re new to hipcamp, but not to traveling and camping. This place is one of the best we’ve been to!
Beautiful, relaxing location.
Moonlight Groove farm exceeded my expectations, completely. Despite the open farmland bordering the property, it is wonderfully wooded at the site, and as you drive into the area. Susan met us upon arrival and once I had seen the property and site, I couldn't have been happier. Pure privacy right next to the riverbank. All of the foliage was lush and green, and the setting is simply relaxing. Larry brought plenty of firewood and made sure we had everything we needed, and was full of information regarding the property and it's wildlife. I genuinely enjoyed talking with him. We were even brought fresh picked strawberries, which was much appreciated. Their dogs were delightful as well. Our stay was exactly what we were looking for and needed. Susan and Larry are two great people, running a beautiful farm with a perfect location. We will be returning for sure.
