T-J Ranch
We had a magical time at TJ ranch. Don't trust gps directions, because it showed the property on the opisite side of the road. Ella was a great hostess and guided us to a perfect spot, where the river backs up creating a tiny marsh. The land was pristine, we almost felt guilty laying our tent on a bed of green grass and purple daisies. Every morning like clockwork, three bull moose with dark velvety antlers joined us for breakfast. We sat quietly listening to them slurp weeds and slosh around. We tried to swim in the river, brrrr the water was invigorating. My husband was able to catch a small trout, but the tricky bugger came loose at shore. Historical family cabins add to the charm of this working cattle ranch. The ranch is very quiet and yet not too far from camp is their home if any issues arise. Thank you very very much Ella for sharing your special family ranch with the hipcamp comunity.

T-J Ranch was a very beautiful spot to spend a few days. The arrangement is flexible and there is lots of room to find a perfect campsite. We did!

This is a wonderful place to camp (dispersed!) with a full flowing river (The Big Lost River) running through it. If you seek solitude and wilderness this is the place. The serenity of camping next to the river and a family of bull moose as neighbors is not to be surpassed. Our hosts, Ella and her brother Justin Johnson, were the best. They stopped by everyday to make sure everything and everyone were healthy and enjoying ourselves. They even offered to pick up supplies for us when they went into town (Mackay, @ 1/2 hour drive). Their family has owned this and other ranches in the area for three generations. Their knowledge and insight of the surrounding area was great back ground. My family and I plan on spending more time here in the future. Thanks Hipcamp for turning us on to this great experience!
