Waipi'o Hostel and Campsite is located in Kukuihaele less than a mile from majestic Waipiʻo Valley. In a place where horses and wild turkeys often wander by, this is the old Hawaiʻi. A place where neighbors stop to talk and life is sweet as the smell of sugar cane grass. You'll enjoy a wonderful ocean view and the many fruit and macadamia nut trees on the property. We occasionally offer farm fresh eggs from our flock of hens as well. We usually have perfect weather-

The vibe at Waipi'o Hostel Camp
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The Waipi'o Hostel was a great spot to camp! It is located a 5 minute drive from the Waipio lookout and 15 minutes from Honokaa. If you stay in a tent, you still get access to the hostel's bathroom, living room and outdoor kitchen. The hosts were very accommodating and supplied us with all of the camping gear for a small fee.
I highly recommend staying here if you find yourself near Waipio Valley!
Perfect place to stay in Hawaii on a budget! I camped out there 2 nights before and after backpacking to Waimanu, and it was definitely a luxurious camping set up! So nice to have the outdoor kitchen and shower to use. Greg and his family are really sweet and helpful. Would definitely recommend and if I'm ever back on that part of the Big Island, would probably stay there even longer!
It was a great stay we had camping at Waipio Hostel. The outside amenities and shower and washrooms are very appreciated. The location is very close to Waipio Valley, 10 minutes walking, 1 minute driving. I totally recommend staying there if you plan visiting the valley.
The hosts & family were so nice! And the property has a beautiful view. We were a little bummed about the cleanliness of the place though. The hostel/camp is in the basement of the family's home and felt like an after thought. We camped in their backyard which had a small flat area but the neighbors dog barked until about 1 am and the chickens started stirring around 6 am. For $30, it was a pretty comfy place to camp with access to showers, wifi and a refrigerator/kitchen. Would we go again? Maybe.
