A comfortable stay with plenty of woods to adventure. There's a lake down the road you can kayak in. Definitely a cozy spot to stay a night or two that isn't super primitive!
Great location with a gracious host. Just twenty minutes to FSU campus. Peaceful place backed up to forest reserve minutes from I-10, couldn't ask for a better place to set up camp. Looking forward to returning in the fall for football season!
Really enjoyable stay! The host is very generous and nice. She gathered firewood for us at no extra cost and arranged for electronics to charge in our tent without us having to move the setup. The internet reached into our tent well and she was happy to provide us with anything extra we might need, even if she was inside. The area can get a bit noisy at times (train and elementary school across the street with neighbors and a church to either side) but it's still a peaceful place to sit around the fire with your group at night and relax, or hang out and nature watch during the day.
Very welcoming and comfortable.
PJ was very welcoming and made me feel right at home in the large, tree-lined yard. Birding is fantastic. Great fire ring with wood at the ready. One of the best paddling trails in Florida is near-by. All of this is only 20 minutes from the state’s capital city - including great restaurants, FSU, museums, etc. I had a great escape at PJ’s!
Wonderful host and great value
I highly recommend staying there! P.J. was an exceptional host. The outdoor shower is a great touch. The back yard view makes you feel like you’re in the woods.
We didn’t understand hipcamp
The hostess was super nice and very friendly. I wasn’t aware that hipcamp was just a community of people who let you camp in their backyard. We came from 40 acres in SE Alabama and were looking to stay out in the woods. It was completely my mistake in not understanding what hipcamp was and she still refunded my money (which she didn’t have to do). We ended up camping on a lake in Tallahassee not too far from her and still had a fun weekend. She is a very kind and generous person ! If you are into backyard camping she is the best hostess ever!!!
Our host was delightful and helpful, really interesting and generous person. We were challenged to make some turns with our truck/camper rig but managed and found a much easier exit. We were offered water and electric but did not need. She kept the dog tied while we were there which increased our comfort.
