Far from the city lights, these quiet, private campsites are nestled in the forested section of our permaculture project and organic farm. Accessible to tent campers or small, maneuverable campers only, there are no hookups, but sites do have easy access to potable water, an outdoor shower with hot water and a lovable loo (compost toilet.)
You will be in the company of diverse flora and fauna, both wild and domestic. The farm is located between two large, wild lakes. Hiking, kayaking, and excellent fishing are all nearby. Easy day trips are popular to clear, fresh water springs and crystal clear rivers. Huge alligators, bald eagles, sandhill cranes and many other species inhabit the area.
Seven miles away is Micanopy, which Forbes Magazine listed as one of the 12 cutest towns in America. And Gainesville is just 20 minutes away, offering the University of Florida, museums, theater, arts, music, micro-breweries and sporting events.

This was my first time using the Hipcamp site and we had a great experience. I highly recommend Joseph's farm. The campsites are private, large and well maintained. There are multiple trails to take short hikes and lots of trees and wild life. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. My only suggestion to anyone choosing to camp there is make sure to bring either a grill or a grate for the camp fire if you plan to do any cooking. I was prepared so it wasn't an issue.
