Located in a green and sunny Oasis, this site sits on top of a hill amidst the berry bushes, overlooking the lake. It is a large site, with two clearings and ideal location close to the wood, bathroom, and the dock and boats.
Deep in the backwoods of rural Wisconsin, Camp Escape is an excellent spot to disconnect with the 21st century and get completely off grid. At this camp, a handful of secluded sites each come with spectacular lakeside views and shelter from pine trees for complete isolation.
Here’s a chance to test your wilderness skills. There’s 70 acres of private forest and four kettle lakes at your disposal, so getting to know your surroundings must be top of the list. You can potter around on the water in rowing boats and canoes (both free for campers to use) and fish for bass to grill over your campfire. Kids can safely run off energy, make new friends at the play areas, or go scavenging for raspberries in season.
Beyond camp, there’s a whole wilderness of 5,000 acres just begging to be explored; take a backpack and hike or horseback ride into the forest, or rent an ATV or snowmobile for winter adventures in the hills. At the end of the day, though, there’s probably nothing better than sitting on a wooden dock overlooking a lake and contemplating the wilderness as the sun sets.
No-fuss amenities at this back-to-nature campground include fire rings, wooden tables, and parking by each site. Gas cylinders are available, but there’s no drinking water so you'll need to bring your own. There’s one compostable toilet on the park as well as plenty of dirt (and trees to hide behind) for catholes.

The Meadows has options. You can stay at the open area at the top of the big hill, or squeeze into a secluded spot down the pathway. Beautiful trails, fishing, brought our own tubes for floating. Tara is generous, and has boats, paddleboards, a couple kayaks (although most are in rough shape). But hey! Free boats. There is firewood (and more) for purchase. A couple outhouses. We spent 2 nights there over the 4th of July weekend. Very spread out sites, super peaceful. Totally recommend.

We pulled our 20ft camper to the Meadow. It was really nice. If you planning to bring a camper make sure to check with the host, as not all site are accessible. We also walked the property and explored most of the sites. If you want some beautiful private camping in Northern Wisconsin check out any of Tara great spots.

Very private & well-maintained area with easy access to the lake & lookout point. Also great view of the lake from the cliffside. It rained on us all weekend but we still made the most of it. My fiancé & I have been camping here for a year & always enjoy our stay. I actually proposed to her in this weekend because this campsite is so special for us.
Very cool spot, lots of different campsites & interesting things to see. Our family of four really enjoyed our stay. Thx Tara!
The host is great and the land feels wild like you're really far away from civilization (even though it's not terribly far from a decent sized small town). The ticks are terrible, so be prepared for that. The host's dogs were adorable and friendly. The road to the property and then through the property is quite rough, so consider this more like overlanding than your every day campground. All in all a great experience if you know what you're signing up for.
This was a great idea. Just the kind of camping experience I was hoping for. Rustic, out of the way, no crowds, peace and quiet, beautiful views.
Tara was an amazing host, all of the reviews you read are 100% legit! She is the most kind hospitable , even helped jumped our car whenever it died. I had to leave early due to my unforseen car trouble but tara was super nice about it and helpful. I cant say enough about how amazing she was, when my daughter threw a fit and was crying and tara came all the way out just to make sure we was okay. I felt bad but was super grateful for he concern.
The idea of this campground is amazing they have abundance of luscious wooded land right next to the water. All of campsites are very secluded. Most all of of them have two separate spots to set up at. Its a very hilly rough terrain (it is the woods, so as to be expected) so having a capable vehicle is a must, my chevy equinox did fine though navigating it.
A great feature about this versus of other campgrounds of any kind is the free access to the kayaks and boats that was super cool, gave us all a chance to get out on a boat for the first time and my 8 year old son got to use child kayak for the first time it was a great experience for us. We made a lot of memories. Right next to the meadows, if the boat dock area so the kids was able to swim, but be weary as the description depictates the water is full of mud and sticks (again as to be expected) so you have to get out some before its not so rough but my kids still filly enjoyed themselves either way.
You barely have to see or hear anyone else, maybe passing on the water but for the most part you'll feel extremely secluded!! Its amazing not like your typical state run campground where everyone is 2 feet apart with no foliage at all. This is for people like me who like to actually camp camp! There is a cathole/stump action for toilet next to our camp but i did bring my own as i was prepared, but that would come in handy for any emergencies, also futher down the road is an outhouse. So it works well. There is TONS of cheap firewood that they have ready for you which is a blessing!
The dogs are super nice and friendly and kids looooooved when they would come up to the camp!
I have absolutely nothing bad or negative to say about this camp! YOU SHOULD REALLY BOOK NOW YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!! We for sure plan on coming back as soon as i get my car fixed, ahah 🤣 we hope to return in a month or two thats how much we enjoyed it even though we had car trouble it was an amazing experience.
It was such a well worth it experience we left a donation in the jar because its well worth it and i would love to see this place grow and flourish, i would recommend everyone else do the same. Their hardwork is well worth it!
10/10 would stay again and recommend!!

Tara was incredibly hospitable. The property was absoloutely breath taking and so are the sites. I’d recommend lakefront. Her family was very gracious and even checked up on us a couple times.
