Lovely cabin offers a one-of-a-kind retreat on 190 acres - a true WV experience including moonshine tasting! Cabin has 3 comfy beds for 4, covered patio, fresh spring water, kitchenette (fridge, coffee maker, microwave, single range burner, toaster), composting toilet in a potty house on the back deck of this cabin. The cabin does not have running water, but we provide a jug of our great spring water (refill it as you need). We have 5+ miles of our own hiking trails, 2 fishing ponds, wonderful scenic views. This rustic cabin has NO internet, or tv. Board games provided. Guests may use the basement bathroom w/shower in the main lodge (the bathroom may be shared with other guests). If the inside bathroom is unavailable (unlikely), we will provide a shower tent. Guests may share the picnic pavilion, porches, grills. The event kitchen may be available. Ask if you need it. Groups - see our other listings - we can sleep 21 in beds, have many camping spots.
3 night minimum on holiday weekends. NO DOGS we have not met before, sorry!
We are 1 hr from Harrisonburg VA, 3 hrs from Richmond VA or 3 1/2 hrs from Washington DC. nRocks is close, and there are hiking trails nearby (Seneca Rocks, North Fork Mountain Trail, High Knob, Spruce Knob), and there are many options for biking, caves, motorcycling, local festivals in Franklin WV & Highland Co VA.
The historic Ananais Pitsenbarger Farm is on the property, too. It is an 1840s German Appalachian homestead - 16 buildings - which is on the National Register of Historic Places. You are welcome to look around - we have a self-guided tour!
Inquire about a backpack lunch (or dinner), a charcuterie sampler, or "mix-ins" - non alcoholic mixers to make cocktails with Dry Run Spirits' apple brandy/moonshine (on site). Please confirm at time of booking, or at least 1 week prior to your arrival. Ask for an apple brandy, apple or maple moonshine tasting. Bottle sale on site. It's exceptional - small batch, hand crafted in a copper pot still. The apples and maple sap come from the trees right here on the farm.
Due to the nature of the property, a liability waiver is required.

Jeff and Teresa were friendly, and attentive to our needs. The cabin was unique and charming, and nicely decorated. The kitchen had a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and was stocked with convenient items for cooking/ grilling. The fire pit had a removable grate. The view from the deck was a nice meadow lined with maple trees, and we enjoyed watching the deer. I can't say enough about the nicely maintained hiking trails. The views were absolutely stunning. We also enjoyed the self-guided tour of the historic buildings on the property.
We had a wonderful experience. Everything was great and the hosts we wonderful. The cabin was beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to get away to the mountains.

We are glad you had a nice visit. It was our pleasure to get to meet you and James. Come back again if you can. We'd love to meet the children!
Such an amazing place! The trails were beautiful, the cabin was cozy, our hosts were very friendly, thoughtful and make delicious pizzas and breakfasts! Hands down our favorite getaway!

Absolutely amazing! Comfortable cabin surrounded by a gorgeous slice of earth. Jeff and Teresa are so friendly and made everything just a little more awesome. Unbelievable night skies and I didn’t want to leave!
Jeff and Teresa were absolutely awesome. They were extremely knowledgeable of the history of their camp and the surrounding area. They were also very friendly and made everyone feel welcome. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give them a 10. If you are looking for a getaway in a rustic outdoors setting they are who you want to book with.
I loved everything about the barn and this property! I found the barn extremely clean. The barn provided us with lots of the "home" stuff we needed (i.e. table, beds, mini fridge, etc). I thought the inside and outside were so well designed. I cannot wait to come again. Jeff and Teresa did such an awesome job making us feel welcome. Hats off to you both!
Highly suggest: exploring the farm trails & original home steads, go to Seneca Rocks (beyond worth it), watch the stars at night (INCREDIBLE), stay more than just a weekend...I wanted so much more time.

We're so glad you had a nice visit! It was our pleasure to host you, and we do hope you can come again. Thanks for the glowing review! Teresa
Awesome property with the kindest host! Be sure to explore the property and check out the night sky!
Was our first getaway during the pandemic and it couldn't be better. The barn is beautiful! There are nice hikes you can take on the property and not see another person. Teresa and Jeff have kept the place clean, stocked, sanitized, and ensure that bathrooms are not shared. Our kids loved running up and down the meadows, playing cornhole, making a fire, and Xena, the dog, was a great host to our canine as well!

We loved our stay at Loafer's Glory! The barn cabin was very thoughtfully restored and decorated, and it comes with everything you need. The property was beautiful and secluded. Don't miss the historic 1840s homestead-- so fun to explore!
Thanks Jeff and Teresa!

We're so pleased you had a nice visit. Those trails are especially lovely now, mowed yet winding thru the hay fields. We look forward to seeing you again!
