An exclusive and private "BUST YOUR BUTT HIKE-IN" campsite that never disappoints!  From your staging parking spot, it's less than a 5min hike along the Little Wind River.  (There is one bridge crossing so people with animals please be aware- Some dogs cross just fine and some don't. The walking bridge is off the Little Wind River about 15ft and is about 30ft long, if the dog doesn't want to cross it, they can cross the creek.) From there you will follow a short path up and down a slightly rooted hill and then to camp.  If you're feeling tired already reading this - then this is not your campsite!  This site is perfect for large groups of up to 10, with enough room for 5 large tents. Creek water is at your doorstep with a lush canopy and a picturesque setting of Pacific Yew, Western Red Cedar, and Douglas Fir forest as far as the eye can see-and the afternoon sunset is by far the best to view from Eagle's Nest.  This is Wilderness camping without going into the Wilderness and taking the hours it takes to get there...

This campsite is for those willing to take a little effort to reach-it has breathtaking trails connected to the network of trails on the property-a good adventure during your stay.  We recommend at least staying for two days to get the most out of this Hipcamp experience!   Park, Camp, Enjoy-and be safe and respectful of nature and yourselves! Thanks :)

If you like a private camp, spacious, on the river right next to exploring trails--without a view of other humans---this place is it. It does take some camping pre-organization to carry camp stuff the short trip up and around to this private camp--but you wanted private, right? We even brought the propane fire pit. The bathrooms are shockingly clean. And within walking distance to a natural hot springs is just such a bonus. It was a healing place for our family....absolutely wonderful.

This place was idyllic, we don't want to share the location with anyone because it's so special! We had a couple of wonderful nights here during the meteor shower. We can't say enough great things about the site, it was clean, well appointed and gorgeous.

Another gorgeous stay at Windwoodrivers! The site was clean and comfy with two hammock spots on our own beach creek. Loved watching the bunnies play in the meadow in the morning and snacking on blackberries.

The Eagles nest is truly a beautiful little spot tucked away in the forest right alongside a creek. We learned that the reason it’s called the Eagles nest is because it’s pretty high up so that includes a spike in elevation from the parking lot to camp. I wanted to leave this review in order to fully warn people that this is not an ideal situation for regular camping gear. The group of people I were with all planned to haul their things so we all brought collapsible carts along to transport from the car to camp which ended up being pretty much useless because the trail is so steep with many obstacles (like rocks and tree roots) you have to hike over which ended up being nearly impossible to do with our collapsible carts. The entire process took about two hours to get our things completely unloaded and up to camp. Thankfully there is a little trail that jets down to the right from the parking lot so you can also cross the creek a tiny bit easier and get up to the nest that way but it is still challenging. It took every single ounce of energy we had to haul our things in and out of there which proved to be very difficult. I would definitely come here again but I would do it Backpacker style with extremely light gear and not classic camping gear. I’m hoping that this review finds the right person and warns them before they end up stuck doing five or six loads by hand of bulky camping bins and gear. It didn’t seem like this extremely important fact was mentioned in any of the reviews I saw. A trail with a short hike was mentioned but not a rugged off-road very non-flat trail that will nearly break your spirit as you attempt to move things from the parking lot to the spot. As long as you are OK with that pretty important detail I would give this place two thumbs up! It was secluded and we had our own little landing right on the creek to hang out and splash around in. It was super private we couldn’t so we couldn’t see or hear another person. Once we finally got everything to the camp spot and were able to relax it was a very fun experience.
