Perfect private getaway.
Finding this camp was completely by luck. My partner and I feel that we were drawn here for a reason. We enjoyed it very much as our own private getaway.
We were so happy that it was available the days we we wanted as not many places were and it was so much better then a traditional camp site.
There is some construction going on,( and she did mention that on the bio about the place.) on the farm but it’s nothing that will stop anyone from doing anything.
We most definitely will come back to this location. We loved all the farm animals and the really cool walking trails around the camp site. Not to mention how close we are to the Shenandoah mountains.
We can’t wait to see how much they get done with the farm and what all they will have in the future.
Thank you so much for an amazing time. It was truly a beautiful and amazing property.
Great host, quiet & relaxing stay!
Jennifer is such a great host! The farm is wonderful. Beautiful, secluded campsite. Though it is a “primitive” site, the added touches of a wash station and a table with chairs were really nice to have. She gives attention to details. Very close to multiple hiking opportunities in the Shanendoah National Park, wineries/vineyards, distillery, coffee shops and a a great organic deli/restaurant.
Jennifer is very busy with the farm, but made sure she was available when I arrived to go over maps of the camp and local attractions and show me to my site. Gave me a tour of the campsite to show where everything is and was available for her Farm Store. VERY cool Farm Store - gotta check that out!!
I would definitely stay here again and again!
Fabulous spot for a hammock hang!
Sparrow Hammock Camp is a little island in the forest - literally. Quiet and peaceful, looking down into lush forest all around. Jennifer was a wonderful host, took time to show me around, was great to chat with, and kept me in the loop when she had to leave unexpectedly.
It's a hike into the site and it is uphill, so pack light or plan with Jennifer to help with your gear. The hammock camp has an arrangement of on the left of the site that will accommodate hammocks, a large fire pit with a swing-over grill grate; a sitting area with 4 chairs and a coffee table; a wash station with a hang line, wash basin, soap, water and trash bag; and a covered, open-air biobag toilet with sanitizer, toilet paper and additional bags. Key points at the site are lit by unobtrusive solar posts to find your way to the toilet. To the right of the site, a path leads down toward a stream. It was raining for most of my stay, so I didn't get to explore or sleep without a rain fly, but I am for sure bringing my tent-camping family back to camp at another of Jennifer's sites.
Jennifer's land also hosts a menagerie of farm animals, with the pigs and sheep grazing freely, lots of poultry, some farm cats, and a very friendly dog named Lily (?)
Some things to be aware of - there is no cell service until you're a bit down the main road, so plan to plan ahead. It's also a steep, rocky drive in. I was in an SUV and was ok, but best to talk with Jennifer first if you have something like a sedan or compact to figure out a game plan.
