Beautiful night sky
Stayed for 2 nights in late October. The property was beautiful and very well maintained. A short walk from the campsite via trail takes you to the farm store and animals. Other nice touches: fire pit, horseshoe pit, multiple add-on options for tent set up. Look forward to staying again!
Stayed here Halloween weekend, we added on the tent tipi extra and a dozen eggs! The tent was set up when we arrived which was great since it was projecting for some rain. The outdoor kitchen definitely had everything we needed and more. Down a short walk down a trail, leads you to their farm store and some very very cute animals! Jennifer came by to check in and introduce herself, we would definitely stay here again!
Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for 4 nights. This site is perfect if you're looking to get away from it all but still have a few "modern" amenities. Jennifer was awesome and even mailed me a few items left behind when we bugged out early ahead of a rainstorm. Definitely get the eggs from the farm, and if you have a decent off road vehicle ask Jennifer about the swimming holes on the mountains nearby. And the little country store up the road several miles has the best milkshakes we've ever had! We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Camping with comfort, perfect locat
Unique experience! Great private site, you can tell they take pride in their farm. The little kitchen area, bathroom, and shower were perfect. Enough to feel like you were camping while still having some comforts! The hosts gave done an excellent job on the tent pad with a lovely fire pit that was perfect for our evening fire and marshmallow roasting! We loved the farm tour, seeing the pigs and goats! Farm breakfast basket was a great addition! Perfect overnight getaway!
Amazing site on a cute farm!
We had an amazing time at Birdsong. Peaceful, great space, toilet, and shelter for cooking. Jennifer was so helpful with maps, ideas for where to hike and showing us and our son around the farm.
We hiked White Oak Canyon two days and also did the drive up the mountain with a hike to the Hoover Camp. Got to try our the new all terrain tires on the Forester getting up there. In the future we can't wait to come back and enjoy Sperryville and some of the local food, wine and beer.
One thing I would recommend is to bring a popup canopy if space allows since there isn't really any shade or rain shelter at the site. This is also only a problem in the summer or during rain.
Thoughtful and amazing site
We had a great time at Birdsong camp! We arrived and were warmly greeted by Jennifer (and her cute pup Lily) and picked up our breakfast basket for the next morning. All the items were delicious!!
When we got to our camp site we were thrilled - it was so clean, spacious, private and thoughtful. There were so many little touches that you can tell it was a labor of love. The little kitchen/bath house area was beautiful and it was super helpful having all the gallons of water available to do dishes, use the bathroom and take showers. There was a secure trash can, dish soap, towels, back up amenities, toilet paper and shower supplies. We also LOVED the fire pit area - so thoughtful for camp fire cooking.
The next morning our crew (4 adults and 3 kids) got the absolute best farm tour. The kids got to feed the animals, play with them, learn about the space and were thrilled by the experience. It was so gracious of the host to take that much time to show us around.
There’s also a great farm store which we popped into before we left to buy animal welfare certified meat, eggs and little provisions.
The whole space is amazing! There’s maps for hikes, guides to fun things to do near by, access to wonderful necessities and is perfectly situated between Sperryville and Madison.
We can’t wait to come back again (and the kids can’t wait to see Fig the Pig and Laurel the cat) and we can’t recommend it enough!
Magic in the mountains
Waking up at the "Birdsong" campsite at Landon Farm (now "Watercress") has healing properties that have remained with me since. It is a place where campers are truly surrounded by nature, but can also be super comfortable. The shower works great to cool off after short hikes, and a chuckwagon style kitchen is perfectly located and stocked with essentials for an entire family to enjoy eating outdoors. Walking down the nearby trail to the farm store for fresh eggs, or running the latest routes that surround this peaceful working property are two of the many awesome ways to experience the acreage shared with goats, chickens, and mountain wildlife. The camp feels very private, but Jennifer is always available to provide maps and trip assistance, too. She went so above and beyond to take time out of her busy days filled with feeding her animals and building new amenities during my visit, that I felt extremely blessed to have chosen to stay at this site as a solo traveler. Proximity to Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains can't be beat, and nearby towns and creeks offer much more to explore. With a healthy dose of confidence to scale the driveways, you will be rewarded with the chance to soak up the sky at "Birdsong" camp!
The perfect weekend away
Birdsong camp was an absolute gem of a campsite. Jennifer definitely goes above and beyond to make the campsite extra comfortable. The flushing toilet and kitchenette area were obviously helpful but the gardening and solar lights and beautiful fire pit just made for a super cozy weekend. We found Jennifer to be so kind, walking us around and patiently answering our questions and Introducing us to the animals. I would highly recommend you visit the farm store while there, definitely some cool local finds. This will be a place we stay again.
