Curl up in front of the fire and relax.  Marsh Billings farm museum in Woodstock has lots of fall activities.  Christmas is not that far away, Vermont Country store is close and Woodstock has unique shopping.

We are closing weekdays during the winter as a general rule.  If you want to stay for an extra day let us know and we will unblock.

Spacious one room camp, bunk bed, dinning table, and chairs. Sweeping view to the South. Swimming pond 5 minute walk. LP burner and some cooking utensils. Wood stove for those chilly nights. No electricity but LED battery lighting. l. Crown

Note that we do not charge a cleaning fee like some sites.  We appreciate our guest leaving the camp as found.  So far so good!

Camp has the following: LP 2 burner cook top, pots and pans, dishes, flat ware, some spices and such.

Fresh clean water will be at the camp when you arrive.  The furnished jugs have been cleaned.  If  you still wish to bring your own drinking water please do so in reusable jugs.  We are trying to limit plastic use.

NOTE:  Using GPS, Google map, or other device our address may come up as Perkinsville, Ascutney, or even Springfield even though the town is Weathersfield.  Check the map and just confirm that Center Grove Rd is shown or called out as off of Weathersfield Center Rd.

We DO NOT furnish wood for the outside fire pit.  There is plenty of wood to scavenge on site.  There is a small buck saw in the cubby. However if it has rained or raining you may want to bring kindling wood.

We now have slab wood for sale if you do not want to rummage for wood in the forest

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN KINDLING WOOD FOR THE STOVE. Chunk wood is furnished for the inside stove.  There is a splitting maul, snow shovel, and hatchet

A magical place, peaceful, quiet with stellar views. Enjoyed every minute of our stay, John is kind and helpful! Close to trails and quaint towns. We were lucky to be there during a wild thunder and lightning storm, cloud watching was breathtaking!

We had such a nice a nice time staying here with our pup! The view is absolutely amazing, there is a loop trail to walk or bike and a pond that was incredibly refreshing to jump in. We loved our stay here and will definitely be back!

Loved this cabin! The perfect getaway for unplugging for a weekend. It’s so close to Mountain biking, hiking and so much more that we didn’t have time for. Loved the rustic cabin, private wooded area and sunsets! I also loved how dog friendly this place is and my pup enjoyed the freedom to explore.

Thank you John for being a great host, we’ll be back.

This is a very cute quaint cabin. The view is absolutely amazing. The cabin is pretty well stocked and the solar lights work really good at night. John was very friendly to us and so was his wife always with a smile and a wave when we went by the house. We were four girls going for a 4 day trip kayaking the Connecticut River the Black River and then we took a drive to Pillsbury State Park a beautiful Park. Everything was very close by perfect location. The only problem we had or otherwise I would give it five stars is that the pit toilet has to be emptied or more it was pretty well filled and the smell was not sweet.

The cabinAs you can tell I love the views from the cabin there's quite a bit of pictures but they were beautifulIf you from the cabinA paddle on the Connecticut River put at Sumner falls

The writer's cabin is a perfect getaway to disconnect and simplify life for a while. The views are beautiful! Waking up next to the huge window and seeing the woods beside me and then the mountains in front of me as I awoke, was truly wonderful. On the clear days, we enjoyed the sunshine, exploring the property, and the gorgeous night sky! On the foggy, rainy day, we thoroughly enjoyed being cozy inside the cabin, reading books and sipping on coffee/tea. A beautiful spot, highly recommended!

It was a wonderful experience staying in this cabin with our kids. The views are spectacular even though it rained for a few days on our trip, it's secluded but reachable by car ( 2WD do have trouble if raining). John was available by text and came to check on us with jugs of water. Kids loved the loft, we did not use the woodstove but the outdoor fire pit was great for smores. The outhouse was a few feet away downhill and we saw bear pawprints one morning. There are about 3 sleeping bags provided by the host which we did not know and took our own. We would definitely wish to be back soon.

The Green Mountain Retreat exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed playing games in the cozy cabin, listening to old records as we scrubbed the dishes, watching the sun set over the mountains as we sat around the firepit, and swimming in the pond on a humid evening. Each morning, we found ourselves lingering at the cabin a little longer than we planned because we felt so comfortable and content. That said, when we finally motivated to venture out, we found ourselves in close proximity to beautiful mountains, lakes, and towns. John and Patti were generous and friendly hosts. We look forward to our next visit!
