It was amazing to have 360 views of the desert landscape and sunset. I love getting to visit the chickens, pot belly pigs and burro during my stay. Plus, the kitties paid me a sweet visit one night :)! Ronda’s directions are thorough and very clear and I had no issues at all with finding the site. We were able to make it to BBNP in about an hour and 10’min via 118 and it was an easy, beautiful drive. Having the showers at Terlingua Ranch was a great touch! We had intense winds blow in one night (40mph) which kicked up a ton of dust - my tent is a mostly mesh with a fly cover — recommend a little more inclosed tent if you’ll be there with high winds to help keep the dust out of your tent. Definitely an awesome 4 nights :)
This place is amazing! Tin Valley is a super beautiful landscape, and each site is lovingly kept up, private and inspiring. Loved the location off the beaten track, and didn't have a problem getting to the National Park when we wanted to. We will definitely go back someday, though Big Bend is a long way from home! Host was available for questions, concerns, and friendly smiles. Loved our desert excursion with our two little girls!
Beautiful views. Excellent host. Ronda was awesome and super friendly. The area was beautiful and kept very clean. There are spots for different types of camping from RV hookups, retro rentals, and primitive camping. I rented the A frame and there were cots and a buddy heater provided. Also a barbecue grill and a fire pit we’re available with the restrooms within a short walking distance. The Porto potty was the cleanest one I’ve ever been in. 10/10 would recommend and visit again.

Remember the way you imagined camping would be when you were a kid? Unless you're one of the lucky few, rarely did the expectation ever match up to reality.... If you're still hankering for that childhood dream, this is the site for you!
We absolutely loved this A-frame. Space enough to stand up in the middle, and though not air-tight, it has two completely light-proof (!!!) canvas flaps that seal with a strong velcro strip. Even though we brought two tents, we ended up leaving them in the car because the A-frame blew them out of the water. We used our own mattress pads and bedding, but the cots provided were perfect for stargazing (and what a show!). Just bundle up in a sleeping bag and lay out under the sky.
There are a couple of things that you should be aware of, though.. The two A frames (red & blue) are very close to each other, which could be a little awkward if a different group is renting the one next to you.. luckily in our case we had the space all to ourselves. Also, the A frames are on a lower part of land while the park's RVs and other sites are on elevated slopes. At night it is so dark that it makes very little difference, but during the day, your site is very visible to anyone else that might be on the property.... that said, the beautiful desert expanse surrounding the site is unmatched and well worth the lack of privacy.
Finally, there is the issue of bathrooms and shower/sink... The photos provided on this listing led me to believe that our site would have a portapotty and a sink. While all of the amenities listed ARE available on the camp grounds, all of the portapotties and the only sink I could find are located on OTHER camp sites. You have a good amount of walking to do to reach any of them, and this walking does require a good bit of cactus dodging...
When we arrived, we found one of those tiny plastic toilets with a bag inside that you can buy at camping supply stores on the porch of our A-Frame. However, there is no way to use such a thing discreetly on the actual camp site unless you want to poop in full view of other guests, on the porch or inside of the A-frame... I brought a big bottle of Dr. Bronner's soap (costs almost as much as a night on this camp site) assuming we would have a sink and left it at the distant site so I didn't have to lug it back and forth at night... I realized that someone made off with it just as we got back from a long dirty hike and were getting prepared to cook dinner! Luckily we ran into some guests the next morning that at least let us borrow their soap so that we could wash hands and put contacts in. I do wish that this listing was a little more clear about the locations of the amenities, as it could have helped me prepare for what was in store...
All of this aside though, the benefits of not having these amenities directly on this particular campsite are a BEAUTIFUL view and fairytale-level photos, if that's your thing. Tin Valley has an amazing amount of character and it's hard to imagine that we will camp anywhere else next time we come back. The coyote songs, scenic views and perfect silence when the wind dies down are worth every penny of the rental fee.

So glad you enjoyed the ambiance of the desert. We do apologize on the confusion of the distance to the port-a-potty and that somebody ran off with your belongings, we don't usually have the issue of things going missing. Thank you for your feedback, we will keep it in mind as we work to improve the experience for future guests. Would love to have you visit again!
Nothing short of amazing. It was better than I anticipated, and I'm actually glad campsites in Big Bend were booked for our spontaneous trip because this spot was perfect. I'll be back soon, I'm sure.

So happy you made it out and enjoyed your time here!
Directions were accurate as can be from Ronda, the staff was really nice and funny, porta-potties smelled really good and felt comfortable even pooping in them! You get to see wild life roaming around as well.
Overall was very welcoming and clean, would love to come visit/stay again when visiting Big Bend or just visiting the Terlingua area.

We had a blast staying here! The directions given to us prior to our trip were excellent and we got there with no hiccups. Everyone we met was so friendly and helpful. A HUGE plus was the Port-A-Potty. It was the cleanest one I’ve ever been in. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!

So glad you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for praising our port-a-potty! We take great pride in keeping them extra clean. Hope to have you visit again!
Fantastic remote location, stargazing and very well maintained. 100% recommended. Make sure to follow the directions on the website Not Google Maps... Which will put you 40 miles in the wrong direction. We'll stay here again, most certainly

Thanks for the recommendation! Glad you enjoyed your stay! Would love to have you visit again!
Awesome place to relax and enjoy fantastic views. We enjoyed our stay in A-frame. The setup and facilities are perfect for somebody who is looking to stay close to nature. Communication from host was crystal clear, we just followed Rhonda's directions and we reached the place.
I'm impressed with facility and every small details has been provided by host including bug spary, Solar lights to identify the A-Frame, Beds, propane heater, paints to paint on rocks, camp-sire chairs.....
Awesome and we loved it. Next time if we happen to be in Texas, I love to come back here.

Thank for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the details! Would love to have you back.
