Although there is plenty of room for all campers at the Dusty Nickel, we want to leave room for our grass fed cows to roam too, so we are limiting it to 2 camping spots per night. There isn't electric, sewer or water at the sites, however, water is available near the house to refill tanks etc. The owner does live on site, but will respect your privacy and you can be out of the direct sight of the house depending where you camp.
Additional amenities include 2 kayaks for use at the Brazos river. Transport to and pickup from needs to be arranged in advanced and will be subject to availability.

Daniel has a very nice plot of land about 2 miles from the entrance of Cleburne State Park. 2 dogs were in heaven running through the acres of open fields. Daniel was pleasant and helpful guiding us to our campsite with his little boy on a quad. somewhat difficult terrain to manage, not for every vehicle but most would do just fine (this time of year). wonderful nights stay, we were happy with our experience.
It was very peaceful! Daniel was extremely helpful and made sure we found our campsite. His farm is beautiful and I very much enjoyed the cows!

Beautiful open fields. I went camping with a small group of friends. If it's been raining, make sure you have a sturdy car because you do not want to get stuck if there is a muddy area. I would 100% recommend this stay. We had a cloudy day which made it even better. I really liked all the wild flowers and the graveyard you could enter in, just a small walking distance from the campsite with a fire pit. If you stay in that same place and it is a hot day, make sure you have some sort of shade. We also saw two of cute cows.
The Dusty Nickel Farm is a great spot to enjoy some classic Texas views and is a short drive from two state parks. Cleburne State Park is just around the corner, less than five minutes, and Dinosaur Valley State Park is half an hour away on twisting county roads. Excellent hiking at both parks. I recommend bringing a portable toilet to make packing out your waste easy. All wheel drive or 4x4 recommended if it has rained recently. Daniel was a responsive and helpful host. I definitely would recommend this spot if you want to see a bit of the hill country closer to DFW.

Host gave excellent directions. The land was beautiful. I camped by the riverbed and walked
All around the property. The cemetery was fascinating as well. The night time sounds we’re just as I expected. I would definitely go back .

Daniel was very nice! He gave me all the details I needed before I got there. The property is well kelpt, pretty flat and private. The old cemetery was very cool, check it out! It is farm land so there is "fresh fertilizer" from the animals, but is pretty dried up & barely noticeable. And Cleaburn state park is just a quick drive up the Hwy 21, right past a lovely little food stop, "Nannys Diner".... yummy!!!. I loved it & will be going back one more time!

We had an amazing time staying here! The stars at night are amazing and it was nice to have peace and quiet! Definitely a great place to get away and relax!
We really enjoyed our stay at The Dusty Nickel farm.
It was dark when we got in, and it was easy enough for us to find a cozy spot to set up our camper.
Daniel was very responsive to messages, and even offered to help come out and help us find a spot and get settled.
The area we picked was pretty quiet, and definitely better than a state park with neighbors 10 feet away.
