Hello, and thank you for coming to our little slice of Star Gazing paradise! We have put together a very unique experience for those interested in the stars and skies above! We are located in Cornudas Texas, about 45 miles from the closest Gas Station and 55 miles from the closest City, with an elevation of almost 4500 ft above sea level!. We have easy access to our site via Asphalt roadway. Being this high, it can lead to some pretty crazy temperature swings of almost 40 degrees! This area is pretty wide open, with a population density of around 1 person per 10 square miles! This provides for an incredible viewing experience for the night sky with minimal to no impact from “city” lights. We have a Bell Tent/Structure with two beds that also comes with amenities available for our guests such as a vault toilet that includes a sunroof to allow for stargazing during bathroom usage and an actual running shower built in a stand alone granite enclosure! In the desert even! In addition to our structure, we also have tent sites and for those that are traveling with their own vehicles/over the road homes, we also have 2 spots in a safe environment for you to recharge and be ready to hit things bright and early come first light! Located close to El Paso, New Mexico, the Mexican border we have plenty of local attractions for you to venture out for days trips! One of the great things about this area is that it is a great spot for Space enthusiasts as well as being near Spaceport USA, Blue Origin, Davis mountain Observatory, Sunspot Observatory, Roswell, and White sands missile launch facilities! To help aid in the stargazing experience, we have multiple options to serve the needs of the most experienced to the beginner! We have an excavated viewing pits. During the day the natural rock and granite used for construction absorbs the heat to help keep you warm during the cooler nights. Because we are in a desert environment, caution must be taken! Some of the animals that you might observe during your stay include, but not limited too: Native prairie dogs, Porcupine, Chipmunks, jackrabbits, coyote, bobcats, antelope, mule deer, horned toads, Owls, roadrunners, Quail and Dove, Night hawks, lizards, bats, and of course, Rattlesnakes, scorpions, and spiders! Please be respectful not only of the animals on site, but also the vegetation. We will have a small “store” on site for basic items should they be needed. A smaller tent/structure is also available for an additional charge should our current setup not be large enough to fit the whole family! We are a totally off grid site. We have solar on site to power the shower facilities, charge your phones in the tent, small fans in the tent, and the hand wash station.

Lipstick on a Pig
Really bad, especially considering you have to pay to camp here. And really, not what Inwas expecting from the Hipcamp description. First, the directions on Hipcamp are just wrong. The owner told me this and said he would email the right ones, which just feels sketchy. Well he didn’t email them. I drove there and couldn’t find it. And no cell coverage there, so I had to drive 15 min backwards to contact him and sit and wait for him to respond. Once it was able to get there, no one was there, and this is what I saw: the camp is basically in someone’s ranch/backyard. His fenced in yard had 4 dogs who barked to whole time. It is literally in a cow pasture - there were about 20 cattle in the camp when we drove up. No other campers were there at 5 pm. Oh, and it is right next to a large electrical power substation! Oh the views! It did have a nice pit toilet. The shower looks nice but does not work. There are no designated campsites except for the yurt. We only stayed 30 min. And the left. I asked for a refund since it was not as advertised but the owner refused.

Stargazer campsite/Pluto
The area was private and facilities were as pictured, but the tent site was undefined and very dusty and prickly. Not the best for camping with kids.

Stargazer campsite/Venus
Good option for Guadalupe National Park visitors because there is not really dispersed camping near the park and NP campground can fill up. Was very windy when we camped here and dusty as well due to dry dirt roads, not sure how common that is. Directions could be a clearer. Don’t rely on Google maps. No signs for it on 62, the sign is on the secondary road. We were greeted by Charlie, he was very nice. Enough room between camp sites to have some space. Outhouse style with clean toilet and funny decor. Separate cold shower, didn’t use it cause it was too cold out. The shower water pump makes noise, so that could be annoying if camped near it, but the wind blocked out other noise. Glad we had our van to sleep in, tent might harsh in the wind. Beautiful night sky with views of the NP mountains. RV Trailers would be no problem getting in and out.

Stargazer parking/Supernova
It’s a really beautiful spot of land out there. The vault toilet facility was well maintained, the shower was really cool too. We were there during high wind warnings and the gentleman who was there to help us get situated, Charlie, was very sweet and checked in on us in case we needed anything or needed to leave as the weather conditions were pretty bad. Thankfully we had a car camp setup so we were able to ditch our tent and still have a really fun time. The stargazing pits were also really neat and great protection from the wind. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone out for adventure!

My friend and I had a great night (in high winds no less) camping out. We were greeted warmly by Charlie and company. Would recommend to anyone needed a place to sleep in this part of Texas.

Friendly and Scenic
Charlie is an excellent host. He is slowly developing this campsite. It is very well done. Additionally, he is super knowledgeable about the area. 10/10 would recommend.
