When you are on the river you are almost always the only ones out there. In the heart of Gonzales cattle country. You will be sharing the area with 4 Dexter miniature cattle and 5 St. Croix sheep. The sheep keep their distance but the cattle are very friendly and you can walk up to them and give them head scratches. I have 3 metal chairs and a fire pit with grill at the site. I do have another campsite on property but it is about 1/4 mile away. 5 miles away from some of the best BBQ around at Diamond A in Belmont.

July 31, 2022 with record heat wave and a drought. You'd think those things were enough to keep us away? Think again.
We had a blast. The Guadalupe was low, but you really couldnt tell. We were able to swim, fish and boat it. No problems.
Heat was over 100 degrees, but there was a pleasant breeze, along with plenty of shade, that made it tolerable. Several large pecan trees were a great source of shade and nice to look at.
Access road wasnt a problem to get in and out. Some off terrain, but moderate conditions. Most vehicles I'd think would make it.
There were animals; domesticated cows, goats and dogs. All stayed to themselves. Cows and dogs were friendly enough to pet.
Nice spot. Would return again.
I loved camping on Billy’s land! We backed our truck right by the river and had great views. The water was low but we didn’t mind you could still get in and cool off! Very secluded and perfect camping spot. Billy met us at the main road and led us to the spot. His goats were also an added plus :)
Hidden gem with cute animals
Loved our stay! Lots of shade, open area, and friendly animals. Billy is a kind and gracious host who was very flexible with arrival and departure. Fire pit, tools, and wood were readily available as well.
There’s a river, looked good for fishing (didn’t try), but I didn’t feel comfortable getting in at the time of our visit.
Will definitely be visiting again!
Absolutely beautiful space that worked well for my group of 14. Spacious, shady, and not too buggy. Billy was quick and clear with communications and made everything a breeze. I would definitely recommend. And as a bonus we even got to see some baby goats!
First time campers!
This spot is gorgeous! We saw one kayaker the entire time so it’s definitely secluded. We didn’t bring fishing gear but Billy brought us some without us asking. Great host! We swam to cool down from the heat, definitely need tubes or something if you chose to so you don’t sink in the mud. The only thing I think this spot could benefit from is a better way down to the beach area. That was tricky with the kiddos and the soft mud but we found a way. Everything else was amazing! We did see one water moccasin so just be aware of your surroundings by the water. Thank you Billy for a great experience! We’ll definitely be back in the fall!
