Forest Sites
Not private but good views
“Private,” “Seclusion,” and “Intimate” were words used in the descriptions of several camp sites that are only a few feet from the road, and are not at all secluded from the other camp sites. From any one camp site you can see the next 4 sites, which isn’t so great when you’re trying to enjoy a camp fire and the people in the site across from you have their car lights on(why?idk) for the first three hours of the dark. I had a question for the host before booking, they gave me the answer I was looking for(thank you) but when I showed up to the site and had another simple question, radio silence, never heard back from them again. For families and first time campers, not a bad place at all. The river was nice and the river bank, advertised as sandy, was slick mud, but enjoyable to swim in nonetheless. Overall not a terrible experience, but not quite as advertised.

River Site 9
Love it
100% recommend!!! Perfect get away super close to Austin. Reserved site 8+ and 9 for a group of 16 people. It was better than we could’ve hoped for!!!
Enough room for lots of tents up on a hill. Plenty of room to play tons of games (we did a beer Olympics).
Right on the water with lots of shade and a private dock. Staff super helpful and responsive. Hot water showers were a huge bonus.
We went in April and the weather was perfect. Mid 80s during day and low 50s at night.

The Bell at River+ Site 3
Family friendly camping near Austin
If it were up to the kids we’d come here every weekend! Loved the spacious glamping tent and it had it’s own platform for river access from where we swam.

River Site 2
Great spot to camp!
We stayed in site 2 while in and around Austin camping. This particular site is huge. You can fit at least (8-10) 6 person tents. We had one 12 person tent and one 4 person tent in the back clearing. We brought our 2 dogs and they had plenty of room to roam. Site 1 however, is next door so you can see and hear their presence if someone books it. The property itself was nice and the attendant, James, was incredible to work with. He welcomed us on our first day and brought us firewood on the second day (they can provide basic essentials like firewood and but spray). All the sites are pretty much separated by trees and the river plus sites are right next to the water. We walked from site 2 to the beach area between sites 17 and 18, which was a nice 5 minute walk through the property with our dogs. We also used their outdoor showers and appreciated the hot water and the fairly clean port-a-potty. They have canoe and tube rentals but unfortunately, we didn't have time to float. We also saw some folks fishing that day but they hadnt caught anything. The Colorado River is pretty still so no rapids or real current, but the sites are great for camping and the stars at night are beautiful. James also said they would be renovating soon (possibly this summer) to include a new area with flushable toilets, better showers and a pool! Because this place is so close to Austin but far away to appreciate nature, we will definitely be back. Thank you River Forest Haven!
