Natural features you'll find at Paisano Azul Ranch - "El Groupo" in Texas.
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
El Groupo was a fabulous campsite! We enjoyed the views, and it was so close to the national park! We were sad we couldn’t make a camp fire due to a county-wide burn ban, but hopefully, we’ll be back to visit when it’s safe to make a fire! Our stay was a memorable one—would definitely recommend!
No clear instructions, signage, etc
When we eventually found it, set up was good, but we never knew if we were in the right spot. Others likely occupied our spot. Poorly signed, had to ask other folks staying there for instructions. Owner/attendant nowhere to be found. Very expensive for a lack of clear directions. I would like to discuss with the owner. From all interactions with others at camp “owner was great guy”, just never met them, had any clear directions on our location, etc. Had three crying kids and a frustrated wife from our experience.
Big bend camping
Jason and Ron were so welcoming! I think this is probably the best camping spot outside of Big Bend. Great sites, sunshades and fire pits at each one. Showers are hot and porta Johns are clean. We had a little issue with the site we booked and they were very professional in how they handled the issue.
Big thumbs up for El Groupo. Great scenery in multiple directions. Gigantic space: Lots of privacy not just from other camping parties but also within the site itself--8 designated tent circles are widely spread. Tent stakes will even penetrate the ground, which is miraculous in Terlingua area. Big stone campfire wall is well-designed. Two picnic tables and permanent shade canopy appreciated. Quick access to Study Butte civilization; short dirt road is well-graded. Plenty of room for cars. Clean/fancy porta potty (foot activated flush!). Didn't try showers but guests had no complaints on that front. Jason (online) and Ron (on site) were super friendly/helpful. Thanks for a great weekend!
So many positives - we loved it!
My family absolutely loved the El Groupo site because it was private, with plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable, and very close to Big Bend National Park. We loved having the canopy that provided a bit of shade from the sun, the picnic tables, the fire ring, and the flushing toilet/outhouse. We also enjoyed being able to shower and wash dishes at Jason's check in area. Jason and his staff were incredibly friendly and eager to help with whatever we needed. Most of all, the view of the night sky was nothing short of magnificent. Seeing the Milky Way and the stars each night totally blew us away. We even saw a beautiful shooting star the first night. To top it off, the sunrise was stunning as well! I would recommend this site to my friends, and would stay there again.
