Enjoy riding gorgeous pure-blood horses right up to and at your Wildlife Preserve campsite - Pitch your tent wherever you want - or upgrade your stay in one of our lovely cabins in the woods - Once settled in, come down and Mickey, our retired Special Forces horseback riding manager and/or Vicky, ex-olympic equestrian champion can "hook you up" with whatever horseback riding fun you want (we plan it with you in advance) these customized "horsing around" experiences are for all levels and "tastes" - from "on the ground" feeding and "bonding," to amazing photo ops (photographer on-site), to private and/or guided trail rides, lessons, or "yours for the day" (or weekend?). Full tack room with parade saddles, children's saddles, etc. on site, as well...
Even baby campers can enjoy the horses with our tandem rides, mini-horses and adorable ponies.
Never been around them/scared of horses? We specialize in "newbies" - we even have a staircase for easy mounting, so being stiff or out of shape is no problem :-) Call or text to inquire about our special discount pricing...
Got your own horses? Perfect! bring them and they can camp with you! We can provide private field or pasture boarding, training, feed, whatever you need!
Once you reserve your campsite, just call or text us to book your adventure!
By the way... We are NOT a traditional trailer park - and will never be!
We understand some people think being in nature is to back up, hook up & "camp" in a row of look-alike camp-sites with other people on either side of you, but that is not what we offer.
Instead we preserve your opportunity to have a new experience living in the woods (or the fields if you prefer) of a REAL, active, working wildlife preserve, exotic animal rescue/sanctuary & horse ranch;
We keep it real by only giving a couple of RVs a chance to come at the same time - Likewise for tent campers - just a few. sites and only 4 people to a site (toddlers and babies are free) Cabins? Only 9 spaced out in 2 acres of woods! .
That preserves the rest of the nearly 30-acres space for nature and for building forever-homes for all our cute (tame & friendly) animal rescues – which you will be able to enjoy – right from your “camp-site” at your leisure…
And this is why you - or anyone else would really want to come visit, right? :-)
Be assured that we very much appreciate the few guests we do have each week, and try to do what we can to ensure you have a very nice time - And you can see from all our reviews which average 5-stars, that we do provide a worthwhile experience.
As far as trees... yep, we do have tons of beautiful 100-year old oaks, cedars, etc. & some have lower branches which don’t allow for parking everywhere…
But you do get to walk around, and just pick any spot you want to camp; there are some lovely areas with great views where you can stay in a tent, or one of our very comfy cabin with all the comforts (air conditioning, full bathroom, full furnished kitchen, etc)., and a couple of places where even the biggest RVs can set up… And we can help you get set up with electric and water which are available in several places throughout the property.
Of course, with tents you can set up anywhere, so you have many more options, as well as with pop-up trailers as they aren’t very tall...
Please feel free to ask all questions you wish – we’re here for you 24/7. When you book they also let you see our website which is quite nice and shows all the activities we offer, Whatever your choice of Hipcamping, if you are looking for a lovely and safe getaway with accommodating hosts and friendly little animals roaming around, you will enjoy your stay with us :-)

Serene, lovely and a great getaway
We had a very peaceful stay, aside from a long-term cabin renter we were the only ones there. We set up camp in the woods and had one of the two hookup sites. They were very kind to allow us a campfire and provided a portable fire pit. We brought our own wood, but there was plenty there to use if we needed it. The best part of our trip was laying in the hammocks or sitting by the fire. We did go into town a couple of times but found most shops to be pricey. Our hosts were available if we needed them, but left us on our own which was nice. We were able to enjoy the bird sanctuary and got to hold several precious birds. Donkeys and goats, a big pig, and random flocks of chickens joined us at our site. The horses were beautiful running in their pasture, happy and content. We spent many hours helping the hosts with debris removal to keep the animals safe, as well as repairing the playground, and a large deck on one of the cabins. It felt very good to give back and help the sweet people who owned the sanctuary. We would definitely travel there again. It was a beautiful week at the sanctuary.
No amenities and no communication
We booked for 4 nights in tent and choose this host because the amenities included bathroom, shower, water and BBQ.
The property is big and being with all the animals was very fun for the kids but the description is really misleading and the amenities are definitely missing.
When we arrived, we discovered that there is only one port-a-potty bathroom. That was ok because we were the only tent but if there are many campers on the property it will probably not be enough.
And we also discovered that there were no shower except in the cabins. When we read again the description, we finally understand that you have to look all the links to get the details. It is not clear when you read the description and it is really misleading.
The water in the property is actually a faucet on the outside wall of the cabins so not convenient to do the dishes or wash the hands of the kids...
When I reserved I send several message to our hosts thru hip camp but I never get any answer. As we discovered the issue with the showers, we tried to reach the host but we always received automatically message like "I call you back" or "I can not talk now" and they never called us back.
As we received several emails from hipcamp (before our arrival) to ensure we were aware of the fireban, I suppose doing the same thing to avoid any confusion between the amenities in the cabins and those for the tent camping would have been totally feasible.
So may be it is a great place when you will stay in a cabin but if you are in tent, be prepare to do primitive camping. And may be the hosts only care to those in the cabins but we never saw any of them all the time we spend on their property.
Great stay for our family
Mickey was a fabulous host! We bought the horseback riding for my two kids (9 and 7), and Mickey was so good with them. He taught them much about how to ride a horse, was very safe, and we enjoyed his bright personality. The campsite was perfect for our group, and loved getting to interact with the goats, donkeys, pig and horses!
Perfect camping experience
This property is incredible!! We drove in from Austin, and it was worth it. Victoria answered all of our questions prior to booking, and accommodated almost all of our needs. We really enjoyed the way all the campsites felt very spaced out and private. Boerne is about a ten minute drive so you can pick up dinner or anything else you may need for camping. As soon as it warms up, we will be back.
Mickey went over and beyond to make us feel welcome. He found the perfect spot to park our RV. We decided to proceed with the horseback riding. A family and four horseback riding throughout ranch was perfect inevery way. Victoria was helpful since the beginning to help with the reservations.
Our group had so much fun with Micky and Vicky! We hung out with the farm animals including the baby goats (they’re even snugglier than you imagine!). Highly recommend the Bird Sanctuary - a highlight of our trip!
Amazing! Felt more like a working ranch than a touristy gimmick. The hosts (Mickey and Victoria) are more than accommodating to any requests but will leave you to your privacy as well. We had fun horseback riding, seeing the animals, and exploring the property. We liked that it was very family friendly, no late loud partying or anything like that.
