Bring your own tent or RV or van. Tent camping or vehicle camping is totally fine! Long term stays or parking is fine too! There is STANDARD electricity and water, but no sewer dumping on site. 30/50 Amp adapters WILL NOT WORK and will only trip my circuit breakers. There is a rest stop on I-35 where you can dump for free about 15 minutes away. Water Rules: You may use the hose but do not remain connected when not filling up. The county has warned me that this may result in a fine and campers who ignore this rule will be held financially responsible if that occurs. Sites 1 and 2 connect to this faucet so please keep the fence line clear for others to access water. Ok for a couple nights
This spot would be okay for a smaller rig for a night or two only. The site said it accommodated 50 ft, however my truck and 26 ft travel trailer had significant difficulty maneuvering the tight turns. No turnaround spots. You have to back out while avoiding trees and other obstacles. There is one concrete pad site but it was so close to the road I did not want to use it. The furthest area that I was at was still about 100 to 150 ft from a loud road. The noise does die down in the evening. Electrical hookup was available, but out of reach from my rig. Water is available. Grass is full of stickers. My little dog had to be very slow and cautious when walking.
The one horse on the property had her baby during our stay, which was cool. She's not super friendly, But will eat from your hand.
The host was very nice, however not always available. I had texted that I would be there in 45 minutes. 30 minutes later he responded to my text. When I arrived 15 min later he did not answer the multiple knocks and ringing of the doorbell or text messages. He finally came out after about 10 min. He had fallen asleep.
On a second occasion I asked if he could guide me in backing out of the spot so I can go dump my tanks. He agreed and went inside to eat lunch. About 30 to 40 minutes later when I tried to get in touch with them via text and ringing the bell and knocking on the door there was no response. I somehow managed to get out of there on my own after many many tries. Later he again said he fell asleep. Michael did bring me back to meet his horse and the newborn foal. Again, Michael was very nice, but I was just a little annoyed by his absence on those two occasions. Otherwise kept to myself and rarely interacted w/ the occupants of the house.
Friendly host & nice fire pit
Stayed when traveling through the area. Nice grass lawn parking. Didn’t have time to use it but site includes a cute little fire pit. Michael was a friendly host who has some tips about visiting San Antonio which I’ll definitely use if I visit the area again. There was an issue with the description online but Michael messages that he has already fixed it. Good luck with this and any future endeavor, Michael!
Great place to crash
We were driving through from CO to FL in our teardrop camper, with a stop to check out San Antonio on the way down. Great spot to stop and sleep for the night. Michael was a great host.
This site is a great quick stopover and the host was kind and helpful. The main thing to be aware of is that there is a bit of road noise, so if you are a light sleeper earplugs are probably a good idea. The bathroom was clean and you can use the washing machine if you bring detergent.
