There is usually plenty of firewood available and there is an outhouse on the site. The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now

But for now the frogs provide great music. There is plenty of privacy even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. Nearby Hiking includes Stillhouse Hollow Falls, The Walls of Jericho, Machine Falls, and many others. Canoeing and Kayaking are available nearby on both Richland Creek and Elk River. Ask about available shuttle service from the host. There are many great restaurants in nearby Pulaski.

Loved the simple little opening in the woods to camp. The tree canopy was open just enough to star gaze while enjoying the fire. The peace and quite was so wonderful along with all the fire flies. It was so nice to have wood stacked and ready to burn. They had even started the fire earlier in the day so when we got to the camp site we had nice hot coals to restart the fire. The areas was nice and clean. We will definitely stop there again if and when the opportunity comes along.
We loved the trip. Dogs ran around and played in pond and there is a very level spot on the berm if in a rooftop tent. Nice view up and down the holler.

First off, Nelson is a great host! He gave us good directions and came down to make sure everything was satisfactory.
The camping spot is near a country road, so you may see or hear a few vehicles now and then but it isn't something that bothered us. Once the pond frogs and tree frogs get going, you won't hear them anyways. lol There was a screech owl and a barn owl we heard at night, and a large Tom and 2 hens came through the camp about 4am clucking away. They were beautiful.
There are a few flat spots for tents, but we were camping in a vehicle so I had to raise one wheel about 3 inches to get level as I do most places we camp.
A heavy rainstorm hit with high winds and a tornado watch, but the camping spot is located in a deep valley so the wind down there wasn't bad at all.
There is an outhouse that is way nicer than the one my granddad had, with a toilet seat and paper already there. A very nice touch when you need to go and don't want to squat in the forest.
It is only a few miles into town in case you forgot anything, and everyone we met was friendly.
We really enjoyed our visit, and will hopefully be back soon.

Awesome place to camp. An amphitheater of frogs. Cool pond. Nice outhouse. Was stocked with firewood and dry kindling. Right off the road but minimal traffic. Had a gate you can close. Have recommended to others and will stay again.

We stayed at York hollow on our way from Arizona to south Carolina. It was perfect!! Away from traffic noise and crowded campgrounds. We Arrived late in the day, set up our tent and then had a great fire in the fire ring. There was a much welcomed outhouse, plenty of firewood and even a quaint little pond. Nelson even dropped by in the morning to say hello. We will definately stay here again if we're in the area and highly recommend this great little York hollow.
We had a girl's trip planned to go to the State Park for a couple of nights of tent camping. On the way I started looking at Hipcamp and we decided to stop and take a look at York Hollow. It was love at first sight and so we booked it on the spot. The owner made contact with us because he was out of town and was worried that the grass hadn't been mowed in a while. We assured him that it was just fine and I went so far as to ask him permission to give my friends some training on the new pistols they had just purchased (I'm a certified firearms instructor). He told me it would be fine and told me to use the targets he already had set up. We built a big fire Saturday night and and had a wonderful time. After going to bed, the rain started and made for some great sleeping. Sunday morning was beautiful and we cooked a marvelous breakfast. Another round of thunderstorms caused us to take a nap and then Sunday afternoon and night we had the best time ever had around the campfire. This morning we got up so refreshed and hiked in the woods a bit then headed back to reality. We appreciate the opportunity to have such a beautiful place to camp and hope to come back soon.
